Germany’s Federal Network Agency (Bundesnetzagentur) has awarded 3,445 MW of onshore wind capacity in the February 2026 tender round, with 924 bids totaling 7,858 MW, indicating significant oversubscription.
In the wind segment, 439 bids, representing the entire tendered capacity of 3,445 MW, were successful, while 24 bids were excluded from the award process.
The bid prices ranged between €0.0519 (~$0.0601)/kWh and €0.0564 (~$0.0653)/kWh, with the volume-weighted average award value declining to €0.0554 (~$0.0642)/kWh from €0.0606 (~$0.0702)/kWh in the previous round, marking the lowest level since the tender mechanism was introduced in February 2018.
Regionally, Lower Saxony accounted for the highest awarded capacity at 957 MW across 96 awards, followed by North Rhine-Westphalia with 661 MW across 100 awards, Saxony-Anhalt with 438 MW across 53 awards, and Brandenburg with 396 MW across 60 awards.
The southern states of Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg together accounted for only about 2% of the total awarded volume, indicating a limited contribution from these regions.
In contrast, the tender for the solar projects on buildings and noise barriers, with a cumulative capacity of 283 MW, received 98 bids totaling 177 MW, significantly lower than the 310 MW submitted in the October 2025 round.
Eighty-five bids for a cumulative capacity of 155 MW were awarded.
The tariffs discovered in the rooftop solar segment ranged from €0.0788 (~$0.0913)/kWh to €0.1000 (~$0.1159)/kWh. The volume-weighted average award value stood at €0.0956 (~$0.110)/kWh, slightly lower than €0.0966 (~$0.112)/kWh in the previous round and below the maximum ceiling North Rhine-Westphalia led with 50 MW across 24 awards, followed by Lower Saxony with 17 MW across 12 awards, and Brandenburg with 17 MW across 9 awards.
Recently, Bundesnetzagentur invited bids for 2.5 GW of onshore wind power projects and 475 MW of renewable energy projects under the innovation tender.
In December last year, Bundesnetzagentur invited bids for 3.44 GW of onshore wind projects.
