France’s Ministry of Energy Transition has awarded a combined capacity of 507.7 MW across 36 solar projects under the fourth round of its technology-neutral renewables tender.

The tender was floated for a total capacity of 500 MW.

Solar, including agrivoltaic projects, accounted for the entire awarded capacity.

Individual project sizes ranged from just under 1 MW to 44 MW, while the weighted-average price reached €0.074 (~$0.08702)/kWh.

The biggest winners were Rubis Photosol, which secured about 129 MW, followed by Cas Lim’Ovinergie, QAIR, and CPES.

The projects are spread across several regions of mainland France. In Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, the sites are located at Les Mathiaux in Allier, Bognet and BLV4 in Drôme, and Culhat in Puy-de-Dôme.

Bourgogne-Franche-Comté includes projects at Trouhaut (both west and east sites) in Côte-d’Or, Gueugnon in Saône-et-Loire, and Bois de l’Affichot in Yonne.

In Centre-Val de Loire, projects are located at La Chapelle-Hugon, Charenton-du-Cher, and Charentonnay in Cher; Neuvy-en-Dunois in Eure-et-Loir; Concremiers in Indre; Sublaines (Bléré Sud) and Celle-Saint-Avant in Indre-et-Loire; and Salbris (GIAT sites) in Loir-et-Cher.

In the Grand Est region, projects are situated at Armentières-Nord and Armentières-Sud in Aube, Fère-Champenoise in Marne, and Pierremont in Haute-Marne.

Normandy hosts a project at Saint-Sulpice in Orne.

Nouvelle-Aquitaine includes locations at Chaumes in Dordogne, Mios and Le Barp in Gironde, Taller (Sud-Est) and the Landes des Pins site in Landes, Limalonges in Deux-Sèvres, Champagne-Saint-Hilaire in Vienne, and Ferme de Bord as well as Limovinergie sites in Haute-Vienne.

Occitanie includes a project at Loubressac in Lot, while Pays de la Loire hosts projects at Les Rochettes and Donges in Loire-Atlantique.

France added 1,442 MW of solar capacity in the first quarter (Q1) of 2025, a 34.76% year-over-year increase from 1,070 MW. Solar installations during the quarter were also the highest for any Q1 since 2010.

A majority of European solar markets experienced declining pricing trends for solar PPAs. In the second quarter of 2025, P25 solar prices, which are the 25th percentile of offered prices in power purchase agreements, reduced by over 5% in Europe, according to LevelTen Energy’s Market-Averaged Continental Index report.
