Financing Strategies for India’s Renewable Energy Growth
The 'Mercom India Renewables Summit 2024' will be held in New Delhi on July 25-26
July 16, 2024
The transition towards clean energy is accelerating in India, presenting tremendous opportunities for financing renewable projects. Despite a significant reduction in renewable energy costs over the past decade, substantial investment is still necessary for India to achieve its ambitious net-zero goals.
Ensuring the availability of diverse financing options is crucial to sustaining growth in the renewable sector while offering attractive returns to investors.
Former Union Minister of Power R.K. Singh had stated that India will require an investment of ₹14.5 trillion (~$177.25 billion) by 2027 to install a renewable generation capacity of 210 GW and a battery storage capacity of 8.6 GW/34.7 GWh to meet the country’s growing electricity demand.
The ‘Mercom India Renewables Summit 2024,’ scheduled for July 25-26, 2024, in New Delhi, will address these critical issues. One of the key sessions, titled ‘Financing the Renewable Energy Sector: Where and How to Secure Funding for the Energy Transition,’ will take place on July 26.
The session will feature Pranab Kumar Sinha, Executive Director of Power Finance Corporation; Manjiri Bhalerao, Chief General Manager of Exim Bank; Hitesh Paliwal, Senior Vice-President and Zonal Head, North Zone, State Bank of India; and Vikram Sheth, Head, Investment Banking at New Age.
Priya Sanjay, Managing Director, Mercom India, will moderate the session.
The panelists will explore various financing options and funds available for renewable energy companies across project development and manufacturing. They will share insights into the process involved in accessing capital.
Mercom will also hold its fourth annual Mercom India Awards at the Summit, recognizing the exceptional achievement and technological innovations by companies contributing to India’s clean energy industry.
The event will also feature the second edition of the Startup Pitch Competition, which will provide the stage for Indian entrepreneurs and companies to present their innovative cleantech ideas or technologies in early-stage development.
Register now to attend this pivotal event and be part of shaping the future of India’s renewable energy landscape.
