Emerging Renewable Technologies to Cut Costs and Improve Power Generation
The 'Mercom India Solar Summit 2023' will be held in New Delhi on April 26-27
April 7, 2023
Renewable Energy generation has seen significant technological breakthroughs over the last few years as the industry strives for faster and more affordable adoption of cleaner and sustainable energy sources over fossil fuels.
Technological advancements have leapfrogged across the board, including solar, wind, energy storage, and others.
Mercom India will bring together industry panelists who will discuss these technological advancements and their impact at its ‘Mercom India Renewables Summit 2023,’ an exclusive event on April 26-27 in New Delhi.
In a session titled ‘Technology Trends Driving the Renewables Market,’ scheduled for April 26, 2023, panelists will discuss critical issues, opportunities, and emerging trends in the industry.
The panel will have Dinesh Dayanand Jagdale, Joint Secretary at MNRE, Sujoy Ghosh, Vice President & Country Managing Director-India at First Solar, Sishir Garemella, Head of International BD at PV Evolution Labs, and Sai Charan Kuppili, Technical Director at Jinko Solar.
Priya Sanjay, Managing Director, Mercom India, will moderate the session.
From the first commercial silicon solar panels in the 1950s to the emergence of newer technologies such as heterojunction technology (HJT), TopCon, and perovskite solar cells, the efficiency and cost of converting abundant sunlight into usable electricity have improved dramatically.
Similarly, for wind, different type of wind turbines and their offshore capabilities have helped the rapid adoption in many countries.
The demand for energy storage to provide round-the-clock (RTC) power has ensured the development of many efficient and affordable technology options.
In countries like India, where cost-sensitive distribution companies expect renewable tariffs to decline consistently, higher efficiency is crucial in reducing the balance of system costs and land requirements.
Mercom will also host its third annual Mercom India Awards at the Summit, recognizing the exceptional achievement and technological innovations by companies contributing to India’s clean energy industry.
The event will also, for the first time, feature a Startup Pitch Competition, which will provide the stage for Indian entrepreneurs and companies to present their innovative cleantech ideas or technologies in early-stage development.
