Electric Vehicle Sales Clock 12.5% YoY Growth in Q3 2025

Electric vehicle (EV) sales in India reached 560,637 units in the third quarter (Q3) of 2025, an over 12.5% year-over-year (YoY) increase from 497,974 units.
EVs accounted for 8% of the overall automobile sales, which totaled 5,796,216 units in Q3, according to data released by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways through its Vahan Dashboard.
India now has over 7.02 million registered EVs.
Electric Two-Wheelers
Electric two-wheelers comprised nearly 56% (312,681) of the total EVs sold during the quarter.
TVS led the segment with sales of 69,214 units, followed by Ather with 52,620, and Bajaj Auto with 51,161 units. Ola (50,287) and Hero Motocorp (36,663) were among the other companies that registered significant sales.
Electric Three-Wheelers
Electric three-wheelers constituted 34.5% (193,633) of all EVs sold in Q3.
Mahindra Last Mile Mobility led this category, selling 26,854 units, followed by Bajaj Auto (20,705), YC Electric (10,265), Saera Electric Auto (6,006), and Dilli Electric Auto (5,270).
The Ministry of Heavy Industries (MHI) recently modified the incentives for electric three-wheelers (e-3W) under the PM Electric Drive Revolution in Innovative Vehicle Enhancement (PM E-DRIVE) program.
Incentives for e-3W registered under the L5 category have been reduced to ₹2,500 (~$28.56)/kWh, capped at ₹25,000 (~$285.59) per vehicle for those registered on the government’s Vahan portal from November 8, 2024, to March 31, 2026. The number of such vehicles supported under the program during this period has been increased to 208,263.
The earlier incentive, for vehicles registered on the portal from April 1, 2024, to November 7, 2024, was ₹5,000 (~$57.12)/kWh, capped at ₹50,000 (~$571.17) per vehicle. The number of supported vehicles during this period was 80,546.
The highest vehicle ex-factory price to qualify for the incentives is ₹500,000 (~$5,711.74). The total incentive outlay will come up to ₹8.57 billion (~$97.9 million).
Electric Four-Wheelers
Electric four-wheelers accounted for 8.5% of the total sales of 48,166 units.
Tata Motors remained the most preferred electric four-wheeler automobile maker, with 18,854 units sold. MG Motor (14,123), Mahindra & Mahindra (9,254), Hyundai (1,588), and BYD India (1,401) were among the other top performers.
EV sales in India reached 530,386 units in the second quarter of 2025, an over 34% YoY increase from 396,719 units.
