Kolkata-based Dynamic Services and Security (DSSL) has received an order from the Maharashtra government to set up a 1,800 MW solar module manufacturing facility at MIDC Villebhagad, Tal-Mangaon, Raigad district.
The company will invest ₹10.8 billion (~$127.47 million) in the project, which is part of Maharashtra’s Package Scheme of Incentives (PSI) 2019.
Maharashtra aims to encourage the establishment of industries in lesser-developed areas of the state by providing incentives under the PSI program.
Projects with a minimum capital investment of ₹10 billion (~$118.03 million) qualify as a mega industrial unit under the program.
Dynamic Services and Security has commissioned an estimated 250 MW hybrid power projects, 100 MW wind projects, 200 MW solar, 10 MW rooftop solar projects for C&I units, 12 MW residential rooftop, and 500 solar pumps.
In December 2024, the company signed an agreement with SU Ndigo Solar Solutions to install and commission a 2.3 MW solar rooftop system at a cost of ₹123.5 million (~$1.45 million) at Khidirpore Dock-II, Kolkata, West Bengal.
India added 11.3 GW of solar modules and 2 GW of cell manufacturing capacity in the first half (1H) of 2024, according to Mercom India’s research report, State of Solar PV Manufacturing in India 1H 2024. The capacity additions were driven by a robust solar project pipeline of 132.7 GW planned between 2024 and 2026 and the reinstatement of the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers order in April 2024.
Gujarat was the top choice for solar photovoltaic component manufacturers, accounting for 45% of the country’s solar modules and 52% of solar cell capacity as of June 2024.
As per the latest Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) released by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, the cumulative module manufacturing capacity now stands at 62,765 MW.
The ministry recently issued a draft amendment to the ALMM Order to bring solar cells under its ambit. The mandate for solar cells is expected to be operational by April 2026.
