Uttar Pradesh is steadily tapping the commercial and industrial (C&I) renewable energy market with policy initiatives focused on regulatory simplification and continued investments in grid infrastructure.

On September 9, 2026, India’s total energy shortage during non-solar hours shot up to 7,717 MW while the daytime demand of over 267 GW was successfully met. Solar might have saved the day during daylight hours this month, but come sundown, shortages have been common since coal-based thermal and hydel power are unable to ramp up enough generation to cater to the demand.

The Central Electricity Regulatory Commission allowed a solar power generator an additional 45 days to inject infirm power for the balance 38.1 MW capacity of its 250 MW solar project in Barmer, Rajasthan. The Commission also condoned the delay in commencing infirm power injection.

The Solar Energy Corporation of India listed 7.67 GW of renewable energy and energy storage capacity available for sale across multiple interstate transmission system-connected projects. The capacity includes 500 MW of solar-plus-battery storage capacity, along with solar, hybrid, firm and dispatchable renewable energy, round-the-clock, battery energy storage, and pumped storage projects.

SECI invited proposals to select agencies to prepare detailed project reports for green hydrogen hubs under Component B1 of the National Green Hydrogen Mission. Financial assistance for projects is capped at ₹30 million (~$313,200) per detailed project report per state.

NTPC Green Energy invited bids to hire a Qualified Coordinating Agency for forecasting and scheduling services for its two solar projects in Rajasthan. The last date to submit bids is October 1, 2026. Bids will be opened the same day.

The Indian Railway Finance Corporation signed a ₹42 billion (~$420 million) term loan agreement with Damodar Valley Corporation to finance renewable energy projects across Jharkhand and West Bengal.
