Rising project commissioning drives India’s 2025 solar generation up 22% YoY

Adyant Enersol (Datta Infra), Serentica Renewables India, AMPIN Energy Utility Nine (AMPIN Energy Transition), and ACME Solar Holdings have won Solar Energy Corporation of India’s (SECI) auction for the assured peak supply of 4,800 MWh (1,200 MW X 4 hours) of firm and dispatchable renewable energy (FDRE) from interstate transmission-connected projects with co-located energy storage systems (FDRE-Tranche VII). Adyant Enersol won 100 MW at a tariff of ₹6.27 (~$0.0694)/kWh.
Solar power generation in India rose nearly 22% year-over-year (YoY) to 164.5 billion units in 2025, up from 133.7 billion units, according to data published by the Central Electricity Authority. Solar power generation growth in the fourth quarter (Q4) of 2025 was driven by the commissioning of multiple projects delayed from 2021 and 2022 due to uncertainties linked to the Great Indian Bustard conservation case.
The Rajasthan Electricity Regulatory Commission (RERC) approved the Procedure for Grant of Connectivity to the Intra-State Transmission System (InSTS), which seeks to streamline connectivity approval for entities seeking new or modified connectivity to Rajasthan’s InSTS at a minimum voltage of 33 kV. RERC had issued the draft procedure in 2025. The approved procedure took effect from February 1, 2026.
UJVNL, a Government of Uttarakhand undertaking, floated two tenders to set up 15 MW/37.5 MWh standalone Battery Energy Storage Systems each in the Udham Singh Nagar and Dehradun districts of Uttarakhand. The first project will be set up in Khatima, in the district of Udham Sigh Nagar, and the second will be developed at Tiloth, in the Uttarkashi district. The estimated cost of each project is ₹854.5 million (~$9.45 million). The last date to submit bids for both tenders is February 25, 2026. Bids will be opened on February 28.
REC Power Development and Consultancy invited bids to set up an interstate transmission system to evacuate power from 5 GW of green hydrogen/ammonia projects in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. The last date to submit bids is April 7, 2026. Bids will be opened on the same day.
UJVN, a Government of Uttarakhand undertaking, invited bids for setting up a 30 MW/75 MWh standalone battery energy storage system at the Dhakrani Hydro Electric Project in Dehradun district. Bids must be submitted by February 25, 2026. Bids will be opened on February 28. The project will be located near the existing 132/33 kV Dhakrani substation and will be connected at the 33 kV level.
Gurugram-based commercial electric mobility services provider Drivn received a commitment of up to $80 million in funding from financial services company Nomura. Founded in 2025, Drivn buys, owns, and leases electric buses and trucks for long-distance logistics and inter-city transport. This funding from Nomura will support the first phase of Drivn’s deployment of 1,000 electric buses and trucks.
Integrated home battery systems and virtual power plant software provider, Lunar Energy, raised $102 million in a Series D funding round led by B Capital and Prelude Ventures. Lunar Energy will utilize the funding to expand its hardware and software products. It will also use the funding to scale its AI-driven distributed power software platform, Lunar Gridshare.
Haryana-based solar module manufacturer Saatvik Green Energy invested ₹2.51 billion (~$27.75 million) in a 4 GW solar module manufacturing facility in Odisha. Saatvik Green subscribed to 8.5 million equity shares of Saatvik Solar Industries, a wholly owned subsidiary of the company, each with a face value of ₹10 (~$0.11) and a premium of ₹286 (~$3.16) per share.
Haryana-based solar module manufacturer Saatvik Green Energy recorded a revenue of ₹12.57 billion (~$139.04 million) in Q3 of the financial year (FY) 2026, representing a 142.6% YoY increase from ₹5.18 billion (~$57.32 million). The company attributed the revenue increase to robust demand for solar modules, high capacity utilization, and continued traction from repeat customers.
Integrated power company Tata Power posted a profit of ₹11.94 billion (~$132.01 million) in Q3 FY 2026, a slight increase of 1% YoY from ₹11.88 billion (~$131.3 million). The company said that higher contributions from Odisha distribution companies, solar cell and module manufacturing, and the rooftop solar business were partly offset by the Mundra plant shutdown, leading to flat profits for the quarter.
Norway-based renewable energy solutions provider Scatec reported a revenue of NOK1.03 billion (~$106.3 million) in the Q4 2025, declining 10.8% YoY from NOK1.15 billion (~$119.23 million) Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization stood at NOK697 million (~$72.07 million), a 14.6% YoY decline from NOK816 million (~$84.4 million).
