NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam, an NTPC subsidiary, has invited bids to develop ground-mounted and rooftop solar photovoltaic projects with a total capacity of 12.82 MW across multiple locations in India. The projects cover different zones of NTPC’s operations: Zone 7, Zone 8 and Zone 9. The bid submission date for all three zones is July 19, 2024. Bids will be opened on July 22. The scope of work includes installing rooftop solar systems on buildings and ground-mounted projects at various locations of townships and other premises of NTPC and its subsidiaries.

Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port, Kolkata (formerly Kolkata Port Trust) has invited bids for the design, engineering, supply, construction, erection, testing, and commissioning of a 2 MW grid-connected solar power project at Haldia Dock Complex. The successful bidder will also be responsible for the ten-year comprehensive operation and maintenance. The last date for the submission of bids is July 30, 2024. The project’s estimated cost is ₹168 million (~$2.01 million).

Government-owned lender Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency (IREDA) approved loans amounting to ₹91.36 billion (~$1.09 billion) in the first quarter of financial year 2024-25, up 382.62% compared to the same period in the previous year. Loan disbursements also saw substantial growth, rising to ₹53.2 billion (~$638 million), up 67.61% from ₹31.74 billion (~$380 million) last year, according to a filing made to the National Stock Exchange of India and BSE. Meanwhile, IREDA’s loan book expanded by 33.77% in the quarter to ₹631.5 billion (~$7.56 billion) from ₹472.07 billion (~$5.56 billion) at the end of the corresponding quarter in the previous year.

Diversified industrial group ITC has claimed to have met its goal of sourcing 50% of its energy requirements from renewable sources in the fiscal year 2023-24, seven years ahead of schedule. The company said it now has an overall installed capacity of 205 MW of renewable energy assets spread across India. This includes two recently commissioned offsite solar power projects: a 13.5 MW facility in Uttar Pradesh and a 14.5 MW project in Karnataka.
