Daily News Wrap-Up: NHPC Awards 1 GW Solar EPC Contracts to Adani, Tata, Shirdi Sai

Here are some noteworthy cleantech announcements of the day from around the world:
NHPC Limited awarded engineering procurement and construction contracts worth ₹66.04 billion (~$851.72 million) to develop 1 GW of grid-connected solar projects. The contracts have been awarded to the three bidders, including Adani Infra (India), which won a contract worth ₹42.96 billion (~$554.05 million) to develop 600 MW capacity in Gujarat. The other winners were Tata Power Solar Systems Limited which won a contract worth ₹17.32 billion (~$223.42) to develop a 300 MW capacity in Rajasthan, and a joint venture of Shirdi Sai Electricals and ASR, which won a contract worth ₹5.77 billion (~$74.43 million) to develop 100 MW capacity in Andhra Pradesh. The winner must also construct the transmission line for power evacuation to the inter-state transmission system substation and comprehensive operation and maintenance for five years under Tranche-III of the second phase of the Central Public Sector Undertaking program.
IKEA U.S. and residential solar technology provider SunPower Corp are teaming up to allow members of the IKEA Family customer loyalty program to purchase home solar solutions to generate and store their own renewable energy. Home Solar with IKEA is just one of the many ways IKEA is working to become circular and climate positive by 2030. Home Solar with IKEA is expected to launch in select California markets in Fall 2022. In the U.S., IKEA has a renewable energy portfolio consisting of two wind farms, two solar farms, two geothermal systems, seven biogas-fuel cells, and rooftop solar arrays on 90% of IKEA locations.
Solar module manufacturer JinkoSolar signed its first European Energy Storage Solution (ESS) agreement with Memodo. The Memodo exclusivity agreement for JinkoSolar’s ESS product portfolio will cover the D-A-CH region— Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, for 2022 and 2023. This includes an all-in-one system, a stackable low-voltage and high-voltage storage system, and a single or three-phase hybrid inverter. All power storage devices are installed with lithium iron phosphate batteries and are compatible with well-known inverters.
Flex module-level power electronics manufacturer Tigo Energy announced that its energy intelligence residential solar solution had been added to the approved vendor list for financial products at GoodLeap, a leading digital marketplace for sustainable solutions. Along with inclusion in the California Public Utility Commission (CPUC) Self-Generation Incentive Program (SGIP), the GoodLeap financing option provides solar installers a residential home energy management solution from Tigo Energy.
Pradip Kumar Das, Chairman and Managing Director of Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency (IREDA), met with Chief Secretary of Odisha Suresh Chandra Mahapatra to discuss opportunities in the state for renewable energy. In August 2021, IREDA opened a branch office in Bhubaneswar, following which the company sanctioned five hydropower projects totaling 80.5 MW and a 1.5 MW energy access project. IREDA has sanctioned loans of ₹6.7 billion (~$86.42 million) and disbursed loans of ₹3.48 billion (~$44.89 million).
