Jammu and Kashmir Energy Development Agency announced the winners of its empanelment auction to select developers to set up grid-connected rooftop solar projects on government buildings under the renewable energy service company model. A consortium of Photon Surya Urja and Horizon Renewable Power won 36 MW for the Health & Medical Education Department in Jammu at a tariff of ₹4.19 (~$0.0440)/kWh.
The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy declared that there will be no blanket extension of the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) List-II deadline beyond June 1, 2026. All net-metering and open-access renewable energy projects commissioned on or after June 1, 2026, must source their solar modules from ALMM List-I and solar cells from ALMM List-II.
With renewables overtaking coal-based sources in India’s installed power capacity, concerns are growing around intermittency, grid stability, and power balancing as solar and wind power injection increases. Solar-heavy states such as Rajasthan and Gujarat are already facing rising risks of curtailment and transmission congestion.
The Rajasthan Electricity Regulatory Commission approved Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Prasaran Nigam’s (RVPN) investment plan of ₹63.12 billion (~$652.7 million) for the financial year 2026-27, against the transmission licensee’s revised proposal of ₹65 billion (~$672.2 million). RVPN had filed a petition seeking approval for an investment plan of ₹63.4 billion (~$655.6 million) for FY 2026-27.
With less than a week to go for the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers List-II mandate for solar cells to kick in, the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy advised distribution companies to facilitate the timely inspection and commissioning of rooftop solar projects that are already installed or are likely to be installed before May 31, 2026.
KIOCL, under the Ministry of Steel, issued a tender for a floating solar project with a minimum capacity of 2.7 MW on the water reservoir at its blast furnace unit in Panambur, Karnataka. Bids must be submitted by June 22, 2026. The scope of work entails the design, engineering, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of the floating solar projects. It also involves providing operation and maintenance services for 25 years.
The M.P. Power Management Company invited bids for the supply of energy from 282.50 MW/1,130 MWh (282.50 MW X 4 hours) battery energy storage systems in India, with Viability Gap Funding Support under the build, own, operate model. The last date to submit bids online is June 9, 2026. Bids will be opened on June 11. The project should be designed for interconnection with the interstate transmission system network.
NTPC Green Energy reported revenue from operations of ₹9.13 billion (~$95.4 million) in the fourth quarter of the financial year 2026, a 46.7% year-over-year (YoY) increase from ₹6.22 billion (~$65 million). The company’s total income rose 25.4% YoY to ₹9.42 billion (~$98.4 million) from ₹7.52 billion (~$78.6 million). Its operating EBITDA for the quarter stood at ₹7.75 billion (~$81.1 million), up 38.4% YoY from ₹5.60 billion (~$58.6 million) a year earlier.
Australia’s Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment, and Water awarded 19 renewable energy projects under Tender 7 of the Capacity Investment program, with a combined capacity of 7.8 GW, exceeding the tendered 5 GW cap. Eight of the 19 selected projects are hybrid projects, combining wind or solar generation with battery storage. These projects are expected to contribute more than 2 GW and 7.9 GWh of storage capacity to the grid.
Spearmint Energy, a utility-scale battery storage project developer, closed approximately $450 million in financing for Red Egret, a 300 MW/600 MWh standalone battery energy storage project in Texas City, Texas. The financing package comprises a construction facility, an investment tax credit transfer, and preferred equity. Spearmint said construction has begun, and the project is expected to be completed in 2027.
Invertix, a startup developing AI-powered software for renewable energy asset management, raised €1.7 million (~$1.97 million) in pre-seed funding. Vireo Ventures led the round, with participation from Italian Founders Fund and angel investors active in the energy and artificial intelligence sectors. The company said it will use the proceeds to develop its platform, expand its team, and strengthen its commercial presence across Europe.
Aerospace company SpaceX announced that it will build a 10 GW solar manufacturing facility in Bastrop County near Austin, Texas, as part of its aims to launch AI data centers in Earth’s orbit. According to the company’s filings submitted to Bastrop County, the facility will have two floors. Each floor is targeted to have a production capacity of 5 GW of solar cells.
Wind turbine manufacturer Suzlon Energy reported a revenue of ₹54.68 billion (~$571.89 million) in the fourth quarter of the financial year, a 44.9% year-over-year increase from ₹37.74 billion (~$394.71 million). Profit after tax declined by 5.7% to ₹11.14 billion (~$116.51 million) from ₹11.81 billion (~$123.52 million) in the same quarter last year. Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization increased 39.1% YoY to ₹9.64 billion (~$100.82 million) from ₹6.93 billion (~$72.48 million).
