Seven companies have won Hubballi Electricity Supply Company’s (HESCOM) auction to commission 13 solar power projects totaling 95 MW in Karnataka under Component C of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthaan Mahabhiyan. The successful bidders include Sri Srinivasa Constructions, Anil Patted Solar Energy, Mahadev Damodar Dixit, Solar91 Cleantech, Suresh Vijaybasappa Patted, G G Anandswamy Gaddadevarmath, and Mailareppa Bhimappa Basidoni.

The Ministry of Power temporarily waived the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade registration requirement for bidders using lithium-ion cell technology with transfer-of-technology (ToT) arrangements involving land-border-sharing countries, allowing them to participate in tenders for grid-connected battery energy storage projects. The waiver will be for a one-year term, effective January 9, 2026.

Dalmia Cement (Bharat), a wholly owned subsidiary of Dalmia Cement Bharat, will source up to 128 MW of solar power from a Tamil Nadu-based under-construction project of Oriana Power’s special purpose vehicle TrueRE Surya. Dalmia invested ₹428.7 million (~$4.74 million) to acquire more than 26.26 million equity shares for a 26% stake in TrueRE Surya. The company will procure power from TrueRE Surya to enhance its renewable power supply, to achieve its RE 100 commitment by 2030, and to become carbon negative by 2040.

Pace Digitek secured an engineering, procurement, and construction order valued at ₹3.76 billion (~$45.3 million) from Bondada Engineering to provide balance-of-system works for its 300 MW solar project. The company’s scope of work includes the engineering, design, site development, erection, installation, testing, and commissioning of the project. It also involves providing operations and maintenance services for three years. Pace Digitek will complete the project within 15 months.

Kolkata-based Ddev Plastiks, a manufacturer of specialty compounds, announced a foray into battery energy storage system manufacturing with initial plans to set up a 5 GWh plant. The manufacturing facility, using lithium-ion technology, will be set up in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. Commissioning will be in phases based on market demand. The project involves an investment of up to ₹1.5 billion (~$16.6 million).

Independent carbon credit standard and registry, RenewCred, secured equity and grants totalling ₹42.5 million (~$471,000) in a seed funding round. The funding round was led by Campus Angels Network and included participation from Kairos Early Opportunity Fund, build3 Startup Studio, VentureStudio at Ahmedabad University.

As commercial and industrial consumers across India increasingly turn to rooftop solar to manage rising electricity costs and ensure long-term energy reliability, manufacturing companies are emerging as key adopters of on-site renewable energy. Rooftop solar systems are enabling factories to offset a significant share of their daytime power consumption and improve sustainability performance without disrupting core operations. Kanpur-based Geeta Polymers reduced its monthly electricity expenses by around 30% to 40% after commissioning a 350 kW rooftop solar system at its manufacturing facility, marking a significant shift in how the company manages its energy requirements.

Bengaluru-based solar cell and module manufacturer, Emmvee Photovoltaic Power, reported a revenue of ₹11.52 billion (~$127.6 million) in the third quarter of the financial year 2026, registering a year-over-year (YoY) increase of 118%. The company’s earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization for the quarter stood at ₹4.13 billion (~$45.8 million), up 105% YoY.
