Predictable execution by solar EPCs key to long-term value creation

The Chhattisgarh State Electricity Regulatory Commission issued the draft Chhattisgarh State Electricity Grid Code, 2026, to align the state grid with national regulations and support reliable, secure, efficient, and coordinated transmission planning and operations. The draft code will apply to the state transmission utility, state load dispatch center, transmission licensees, distribution companies, and all users connected to or using Chhattisgarh’s intrastate transmission system.

India’s solar energy sector has made rapid strides in capacity addition in recent years, but as utility-scale projects grow in size and complexity, developers and engineering, procurement, and construction contractors are increasingly facing challenges related to land acquisition, right-of-way approvals, transmission availability, and procurement.

The Grid Controller of India streamlined the procedure for providing temporary general network access (T-GNA) to the interstate transmission system. The procedure seeks to streamline T-GNA access, enable National Open Access Registry-based approvals, manage transmission capacity and payments, support scheduling, and maintain grid security.

Suzlon Energy secured a 105 MW wind turbine order from renewable energy developer Sunsure Energy for a project in Karnataka. The order marks the first commercial deployment of Suzlon’s S175 wind turbine. The order increases Suzlon’s cumulative partnership to 400.8 MW and is its third one from Sunsure Energy in the past 14 months.

Lineage Power, a material subsidiary of Pace Digitek, signed an agreement with Guangzhou Rongjie Energy Technology (RJE Tech) to procure 3 GWh of lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery cells and related accessories.  China-based RJE Tech will supply 314 Ah storage-specific prismatic LFP battery cells. Pace Digitek said the cells are designed for a longer lifecycle and higher safety.

Gaussion, a company developing energy intelligence technology for battery packs, raised $28 million to scale its battery performance technology. The funding round was co-led by BGF and AlbionVC. Autotech Ventures, UCL Technology Fund, DN Capital, and Future Ventures, led by Steve Jurvetson, an early investor in SpaceX and Tesla, participated as follow-on investors.

Europe installed 36 GWh of battery energy storage system capacity in 2025, marking the 12th consecutive year of record annual additions, according to a report by SolarPower Europe. The new installations pushed the continent’s total operational battery storage capacity past the 100 GWh milestone by the end of 2025.

Renewable energy developer and independent power producer Enlight Renewable Energy’s U.S. subsidiary, Clēnera Holdings, entered into a debt financing framework agreement for the CO Bar Complex in Arizona. The financing commitments total about $2.6 billion and were provided by a consortium of seven global financial institutions, including BNP Paribas Securities, Crédit Agricole CIB, MUFG Bank, Natixis New York Branch, Norddeutsche Landesbank Girozentrale New York Branch, Société Générale, and Wells Fargo Securities.

Heightened federal oversight due to a U.S. Department of the Interior memorandum calling for reviews of solar and wind energy projects could expose around 12 GW of projects on federal lands and 80 GW on private lands to permitting risks, casting uncertainty over $121 billion of investments, according to an analysis by Wood Mackenzie.

A.P. Moller Capital, a global institutional fund manager, signed an agreement to acquire 100% of Mainstream Renewable Power South Africa from Mainstream Renewable Power, through a special-purpose vehicle under its Emerging Markets Infrastructure Fund II. White & Case advised A.P. Moller Capital on the acquisition.

Sweden-based renewable energy company OX2 secured PLN 550 million (~$146 million) in financing for a 50 MW battery energy storage project in Osiek Jasielski, Podkarpackie Voivodeship, and a 165 MW Lion solar project in Lubuskie Voivodeship, Poland. NORD/LB and CaixaBank provided the financing, with NORD/LB acting as agent. Global law firm Norton Rose Fulbright advised OX2 on the transaction.

The Bangladesh Power Development Board issued a tender to install 95 MW of grid-connected solar projects across Rangamati and Cox’s Bazar districts. Bids must be submitted by August 25, 2026. Bids will be opened on the same day. The total capacity will comprise 25 MW to be installed near the Chandraghona 132/33 kV substation in Rangamati, and 70 MW near the Chakarja 132/33 kV substation in Cox’s Bazar.
