The Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) has adopted tariffs for 1,000 MW of interstate transmission system-connected wind-solar hybrid power projects awarded by NTPC under Tranche V. In April this year, NTPC awarded Sprng Energy 150 MW at a tariff of ₹3.41 ($0.0407)/kWh, AMPIN Energy (150 MW at ₹3.42 ($0.0408)/kWh), Juniper Green Energy (150 MW at ₹3.43 ($0.0410)/kWh), ReNew Solar Power (300 MW at ₹3.44 ($0.0411)/kWh), and Avaada Energy (250 MW at ₹3.47 (~$ $0.0414)/kWh).
The Ministry of Railways has issued a tender for the supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of a ground-mounted grid-connected 4 MW solar project at Thivim of Konkan Railway in Goa. The project will generate and supply solar energy to Thivim TSS at 25 kV, single phase, 50Hz, along with the required protection system through a public-private partnership on a design, build, finance, operate, and transfer basis for 25 years. The last date to submit the bids is November 29, 2024
Rangamati Enterprise has won a contract from West Bengal Power Development Corporation (WBPDCL) for the operation and maintenance of the 10 MW ground-mounted solar power project at the Sagardighi thermal power plant in Murshidabad for four and a half months. The contract value is ₹1.98 million (~$23,540). The tender was floated in February this year. The scope of work includes administrative, monitoring, and maintenance operations as well as documentation, replacement, and successful operation of the project for the contract duration. Rangamati will not be allowed to engage a subcontractor to execute the tasks under the tender.

U.S.-based residential solar firm Sunnova Energy reported a revenue of $235.3 million in the third quarter (Q3) of 2024, up 19% year-over-year (YoY) from $198.4 million in the corresponding quarter last year. The revenue growth was driven by a rise in customer agreements and incentives revenue, which increased by $49.3 million YoY. Despite revenue growth, Sunnova experienced a net loss of $150.3 million in Q3 2024, against a $56.5 million loss in the same quarter in 2023. Factors contributing to the expanded net loss include a substantial increase in interest expenses, which reached $182.5 million, up from $57.6 million in the prior year, likely driven by higher borrowing costs and investment in growth initiatives.
US-based solar tracker firm Nextracker’s net profit climbed 193.9% year-over-year (YoY) to $115.39 million in the second quarter (Q2) of the financial year (FY) 2024-25 from $39.25 million. The company also reported a 10.85% YoY rise in revenue to $635.57 million from $573.36 million owing to solar tracker system sales. The geographic mix of revenue for Q2 was 73% for the U.S. and 27% for the rest of the world. Rising sales drove both the company’s profit and revenue. In Q2, it achieved record growth from sales of its TrueCapture software.
