SJVN invites bids for 6 GWh peak power supply from renewable projects

NTPC Renewable Energy, Sembcorp Green Infra, Solarcraft Power India 8 (Blupine Energy), Hero Solar Energy, and Reliance Power have won the Solar Energy Corporation of India’s (SECI) Tranche XVII auction to develop 2,000 MW of ISTS-connected solar power projects integrated with 1,000 MW/4,000 MWh energy storage systems. The projects will ensure a guaranteed peak power supply of four hours daily. The tender was floated in August 2024.
Government-owned power generation company SJVN has invited bids from developers to supply 6 GWh (1.5 GW x 4 Hours) assured peak power from inter-state transmission system-connected renewable energy projects with energy storage system. The last day to submit the bids is January 24, 2025, and the bids will be opened on January 29. Bidders must submit a bid processing fee of ₹1.5 million (~$17,676) and an earnest money deposit of ₹1.23 million (~$14,494)/MW.
Eighty airports across India are operating on 100% green energy. Airports in Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Bengaluru have achieved Level 4+ and higher Airports Council International accreditation and are carbon-neutral. Minister of State for Civil Aviation Murlidhar Mohol told the Rajya Sabha that airport operators, including the Airports Authority of India, have installed onsite and offsite solar power projects to generate energy. Some airports also procure green energy through the open access mechanism.
Clean energy solutions provider Gentari, through its subsidiary Gentari Renewables India Castor One, has executed a power purchase agreement with AM Green Ammonia India (AMG Ammonia) to supply 650 MW round-the-clock renewable energy to power AMG Ammonia’s upcoming green ammonia facilities. Gentari plans to install approximately 2,400 MW of combined wind and solar energy capacity in India to fulfil the agreement, integrated with 350 MW/2,100 MWh of energy storage.
Mumbai-based Greenie Energy, a start-up specializing in electric vehicles (EV) charging technology, has raised $600,000 in a seed funding round from a group of investors led by Rajesh Advani, Managing Director of Sun-N-Sand Hotels. The round included contributions from AIC Pinnacle Entrepreneurship Forum, Ashwin Ramesh (Co-Founder, Primary Advisors), and Rajaram Ajgaonkar (R M Ajgaonkar and Associates, Chartered Accountants). The funds will support Greenie Energy’s aim to install over 5,000 EV charging points by the end of 2025.
Gujarat-based energy generation and transmission company Torrent Power has raised ₹35 billion (~$412.77 million) through qualified institutional placement (QIP) of shares. The QIP was oversubscribed four times against the issue size. This QIP marks the maiden equity raise by the company and the first equity raise in the last three decades by the Torrent Group. Domestic mutual funds, global investors, and insurance companies were among those who subscribed to the QIP.
France added 3.5 GW of solar capacity in the first nine months (9M) of 2024, a 52.2% increase from 2.3 GW during the same period of 2023. At the end of September 2024, the country’s cumulative solar capacity reached 23.7 GW, including 22.9 GW in mainland France. In Q3 2024, the country added 1,357 MW of solar capacity, a 66.3% year-over-year increase from 816 MW during the same quarter in 2023. Installations grew by 19.9% from the previous quarter’s 1,131 MW. The installation numbers for the quarter are provisional and are likely to be revised in the following quarters.
U.S.-based electric vehicle charging solutions company ChargePoint reported revenue of $100 million for the third quarter (Q3) FY 2025, exceeding its guidance range of $85 million to $95 million. However, on a year-over-year (YoY) comparison, revenue decreased 10% from $110.3 million. Revenue was primarily driven by networked charging systems, which contributed $53 million, accounting for 53% of the total. Subscription revenue followed with $36 million, up 19% YoY.
Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has announced that its first green hydrogen project has generated over 1 GWh of green energy. According to the Government of Dubai Media Office, the project has reduced nearly 450 tons of CO2 emissions since its launch in May 2021. The green hydrogen project was developed in partnership with Siemens Energy and Expo 2020 Dubai. It is located within the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, the world’s largest single-site solar park, with a target capacity of over 5 GW by 2030.
