Coal India Floats EPC Tender for 20 MW Floating Solar Project

Coal India has issued an engineering, procurement and construction tender for a 20 MW floating solar project at Chilwa Taal, Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh.
Bids must be submitted by January 14, 2026. Bids will be opened on January 15.
Bidders must furnish an earnest money deposit of ₹5 million (~$56,390).
Successful bidders must submit a performance security equivalent to 5% of the contract value excluding GST, amounting to ₹64.3 million (~$725,131), within 21 days of issuance of the letter of award.
The estimated project cost is ₹1.40 billion (~$15.79 million).
The scope of work includes the design, engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning of the floating solar project, along with comprehensive operation and maintenance (O&M) for five years.
The scope also includes civil, structural, and electrical works, as well as associated systems and accessories.
The total contract period is 72 months, comprising 12 months for construction, testing, and commissioning, followed by 60 months of comprehensive O&M.
The tender stipulates a minimum capacity utilization factor of 22% at the delivery point. Successful bidders must guarantee a minimum net electrical energy generation of 3.85 million kWh during the first year of operation.
Bidders must have prior experience in EPC execution of similar solar projects, with a cumulative experience requirement of 7 MW, including at least one project of at least 2 MW at a single location, executed within the last seven financial years. These projects must have been in operation for at least six months.
Bidders must have an average annual turnover of ₹421.05 million (~$4.75 million) over the last three financial years, representing 30% of the estimated contract value. Bidders must also demonstrate a minimum net worth of ₹140.35 million (~$).
In September this year, Coal India floated an expression of interest for the EPC of 150 MW interstate transmission system-connected solar projects with a co-located battery energy storage system.
