Jaipur-based Classic Signages has won NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam’s (NVVN) auction to develop a cumulative solar project capacity of 6.32 MW in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana for a contract value of ₹214.69 million (~$2.47 million).

The tender was floated in October 2024.

Classic Signages will develop 3.92 MW of rooftop and 2.4 MW of ground-mounted solar projects at Simhadri and Ramagundam NTPC stations in the two states.

The tender specified using 540 Wp modules included in the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers, which have 20% efficiency and a five-year warranty.

The modules must be warranted for their output peak watt capacity, which must be at least 90% at the end of ten years and 80% at the end of 25 years.

In 2024, NVVN floated a tender for a 25.65 MW grid-connected rooftop solar project for government buildings in Delhi and adjoining states, including buildings under Delhi Police. The tender was called for four categories: capacity above 1,000 kW, capacity between 201 kW-1,000 kW, capacity between 51 kW – 200 kW, and capacity up to 50 kW.

The same year, NVVN invited bids to develop 4.73 MW grid-connected rooftop solar systems at multiple locations under the Bhakra Beas Management Board. Only Class-I and Class-II local suppliers could participate in this tender.

At the end of December 2024, solar projects comprised 21.2% of India’s total installed power capacity and 46.8 % of the total installed renewable capacity. India’s installed solar capacity rose 10.5% quarter-over-quarter and 57.2% year-over-year (YoY).

India added 16.4 GW of solar capacity in the first nine months of 2024, a 167% YoY increase from 6.2 GW in 9M 2023, according to Mercom India Research’s Q3 2024 India Solar Market Update. These installations surpassed all previous nine-month and annual records, driven by the commissioning of several delayed projects.
