Central Railway Invites Bids for 1.3 MW Rooftop Solar Project

The Nagpur division of Central Railway, under the Ministry of Railways, has invited bids to set up a 1.3 MW rooftop solar project on buildings and residential quarters at the Wardha and Ajni stations in Maharashtra.

The last date to submit bids is May 25, 2026. Bids will be opened on June 10.

Bidders must submit an earnest money deposit of ₹2.6 million (~$27,906.3) and a bid processing fee of ₹30,000 (~$321.9).

The estimated project cost is ₹104 million (~$1.11 million).

The scope of work covers the design, engineering, procurement, erection, installation, testing, and commissioning of the solar systems.

It also entails operation and maintenance for 25 years.

Bidders must have commissioned a solar project in the last three financial years or received payments for the completion of at least one grid-connected solar project for a minimum of 35% of the contracted capacity.

They must also have received payment for at least 150% of the estimated cost of the projects completed in the last three financial years.

The project must be completed within nine months.

REMCL, a joint venture between the Ministry of Railways and Rail India Technical and Economic Service, invited bids to set up a cumulative 1.25 MW of rooftop solar projects at four railway stations in Maharashtra. These projects will be set up at the Mira Road (120 kW), Neral (465 kW), Virar (475 kW), and Palghar (190 kW) railway stations.

Recently, Northern Railway issued a tender for the annual comprehensive operation and maintenance of 1 MW solar projects installed at various locations at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra Railway Station, platform shelters, and service buildings in and around Katra, Jammu and Kashmir.

According to Mercom India Research’s Q4 & Annual 2025 India Rooftop Solar Market Report, India’s rooftop solar capacity grew to 7.1 GW in the calendar year 2025, an over 123% year-over-year jump from 3.2 GW in 2024.
