Bharat Petroleum, Onward Solar, ReNew Solar Power, Illuminate Hybren (Mahindra Susten), and Adyant Enersol (Datta Infra) won NTPC’s auction to set up 1,200 MW interstate transmission system (ISTS)-connected solar power projects.

Dineshchandra R Agrawal Infracon is eligible for 96 MW out of the quoted capacity of 300 MW at a tariff of ₹2.70 (~$0.0318)/kWh, under the bucket-filling method. However, the bid is yet to be confirmed as the tariff is beyond 2% of the lowest tariff.

Bharat Petroleum won 150 MW at a tariff of ₹2.55 (~$0.0300)/kWh. Onward was awarded 50 MW at a tariff of ₹2.59 (~$0.0305)/kWh.

ReNew, Illuminate, and Adyant won 300 MW, 120 MW, and 100 MW, respectively, at ₹2.60 (~$0.0306)/kWh.

The total capacity eligible for the award was reduced to 816 MW as per a provision that if the bids received in the auction were less than the floated capacity of 1,200 MW, only 80% of that quoted capacity would be awarded.

NTPC's 1,200 MW ISTS-Connected Solar Power Projects Auction Result

The tender was floated in August this year.

NTPC will enter into a power purchase agreement with the selected bidders for the purchase of solar power for 25 years.

Projects can be set up anywhere in India on land the bidders purchase or lease.

The minimum bidding capacity was 50 MW and in multiples of 10 MW thereafter. Bidders were allowed to bid for an individual minimum project size of 50 MW at one site. The maximum capacity to be allotted to a single bidder was 600 MW.

The tender promoted only commercially established and operational technologies to minimize technology risk and ensure the timely commencement of power supply from the projects.

The tender specified that the modules used in the project must be included in the latest Approved List of Models and Manufacturers issued by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy.

In October, SAEL Industries, Rays Power Infra, Refex Green, ReNew Solar, Illuminate Hybren won NTPC’s auction to set up 1,200 MW ISTS-connected solar power projects.

In May, Apraava Energy, Avaada Energy, ReNew Solar Power, and JSW Neo Energy won NTPC’s auction to set up 1.5 GW ISTS-connected solar projects
