Bids Show a 1 kW Rooftop Solar System to Cost ₹60,000 in Jharkhand

Jharkhand Renewable Energy Development Agency (JREDA) has announced the lowest (L1) bids to install and commission 3 MW of grid-connected rooftop solar systems of various capacities with and without battery packs on government buildings.

For rooftop solar systems without battery, under Group A (1 kW to 10 kW), the L1 tariff discovered was ₹60,000 (~$726)/kW; for Part B (11 kW to 50 kW), the L1 price was ₹62,810 (~$760)/kW and for Part C (51 kW to 100 kW), the L1 bid quoted was ₹63,000 (~$762)/kW.

For rooftop solar systems with battery, under Group A-1 (1 kW to 10 kW), the L1 bid quoted was ₹119,000 (~$1,439)/kW; for Group B-1 (11 kW to 50 kW), the L1 bid quoted was ₹126,000 (~$1,524)/kW, and for Group C-1 (51 kW to 100 kW), the L1 bid quoted was ₹126,000 (~$1,524)/kW.

The tender was floated by JREDA in November last year.

The projects will be awarded to agencies per the provisions of the notice inviting bids on acceptance of the L1 rate for the quoted categories.

Successful bidders will have to submit a security deposit at 10% of the allotted work order value on or before 15 days from the date of issuance of the work order.

The successful bidder must furnish an amount equivalent to 5% of the allotted work order, valid for five years, on or before the release of payment for the installation.

The rooftop solar systems with battery packs will be installed to store and provide energy at night. The battery packs must be of 4.8 Ampere Hours (AH)/Wp.

The selected contractor must install the rooftop solar systems within 120 days of signing the agreement. If the project is not completed on time, the contractor will be liable to pay JREDA liquidated damages at 1% per week, subject to a maximum of 15% of the work value delayed beyond the contract period.

In September last year, JREDA invited bids to install and commission 5 MW of grid-connected rooftop solar projects of various capacities on government buildings in the state.

Earlier, JREDA had invited bids to empanel agencies to identify rooftops, design, install, and commission 5 MW of grid-connected residential rooftop solar systems of various capacities in Giridih.

According to Mercom’s India Solar Tender Tracker, JREDA has issued tenders for 55 MW of rooftop solar systems so far.
