Bid-Submission Deadline to Install 10 MW Solar Project at Paradip Port Trust Extended
October 2, 2016
The bid submission deadline to install a 10 MW solar power project at the Paradip Port Trust (PPT) premises in Odisha for self-consumption has been extended to October 7, 2016 according to a notification by the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI), which is carrying out the auction on behalf of PPT.
Sources at SECI said that the initial notification inviting tender (NIT) was released in December of 2015. This was the second time that the deadline was extended.
According to SECI, the current deadline extension is a result of technical issues with land reclamation being carried out at the PPT premises. The SECI official also said that the project will be completely funded and owned by PPT and SECI is helping set up PPT with an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor. The project will be executed by the EPC on a turnkey basis.
Major ports in India are setting up solar projects to become energy self-sufficient under SECI’s port solarization program. According to Mercom’s Project Tracker, solar projects with a cumulative capacity of 22.72 MW out of the proposed 115 MW have been commissioned at major ports so far.
