Bangladesh Floats 12 Tenders for 353 MW Solar Power Projects

The Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) has floated 12 tenders for a total capacity of 353 MW grid-connected solar power projects.
The last date to submit bids is February 3, 2025. Bids will be opened on the same day.
The project is funded by BDBP’s revenue budget.
The international tenders will involve a one-stage, two-envelope bidding process.
Bidders must submit BDT25,000 (~$207.038) for each tender as a bid document fee.
They must submit a bid security fee of BDT250,000 (~$2,070.38) for each tender.
The scope of work covers the installation of solar power projects in Sudharam, Noakhali (10 MW), Hathazari, Chattogram (18 MW), Sabujpara, Nilphamari (20 MW), Moulavibazar (25 MW), Bajitpur, Kishoreganj (25 MW), Kaptai, Rangamti (25 MW), Teknaf, Cox’s Bazar (30 MW), Lohagara, Chattogram (30 MW), Nobabganj, Dhaka (35 MW), Kurigram (45 MW), Fatikchari, Chattogram (45 MW), and Bhaluka Mymensingh (45 MW).
In 2024, the Bay of Bengal Power Company floated a tender for the design, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of a 160 MW solar power project at Maheshkhali Peninsula, Cox’s Bazar.
In 2023, BPDB floated three tenders for constructing 77.6 MW of grid-connected solar projects across the country on a turnkey basis.
In the same year, BPDB also floated a tender for constructing a 50 MW grid-tied solar project at Rangunia, Chattogram, on a turnkey basis.
The same year, Amara Raja Infra, a subsidiary of battery maker Amara Raja Group, in collaboration with Premier Solar Powertech secured a 100 MW solar project from Bangladesh’s Rural Power Company.
In 2022-2023, solar contributed to Bangladesh’s power generation at 459 MW.
In 2022, the Bangladesh government and the World Bank signed a $515 million financing agreement for the country’s Electricity Distribution Modernization Program that will support the digitization and modernization of 25 rural electric cooperatives or Palli Bidyut Samitis in Dhaka and Mymensingh Division.
