Mumbai-based power infrastructure manufacturer Bajel Projects will invest ₹1.7 billion (~$19.78 million) in more than doubling its galvanizing capacity at its Ranjangaon facility in Maharashtra.

Galvanized steel is widely used in mounting structures and frames for solar panels, as well as in transmission infrastructure.

The investment will also be utilized to enhance its production capabilities in transmission towers, monopoles, lighting towers, and high masts.

The expansion initiative will increase the output of the facility from over 40,000 metric tons per annum (MTPA) to more than 100,000 MT per annum.

The capacity expansion will be completed by the fourth quarter of 2027.

The expansion will be funded through a mix of internal accruals and debt.

Bajel Projects said the global power transmission market was experiencing robust growth, driven by escalating electricity demand, rapid urbanization and industrialization, and the increasing integration of renewable energy sources into existing grids. India and countries worldwide were investing heavily in upgrading and expanding their power transmission networks to meet the rising energy needs and ensure a reliable and efficient electricity supply.

The capacity expansion will enable the company to cash in on increased sales opportunities in both domestic and international markets.

Bajel is primarily involved in the power infrastructure business, with a strong presence in both power transmission and power distribution sectors. It also provides services in international engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC), as well as the manufacture of monopoles.

Recently, Bajel Projects secured an EPC order for package TL04 of the Siwani-Jind (PG) 400 kV double-circuit (quad) transmission line from Power Grid Corporation of India. The order’s value is between ₹3 billion (~$34.88 million) and ₹4 billion (~$46.51 million).

The EPC order is part of the transmission projects won by Power Grid Corporation of India from REC Power Development and Consultancy in October 2024 to evacuate a cumulative 12 GW of power from the Renewable Energy Zone (REZ) Phase-IV in Rajasthan. The company bagged the tenders for two transmission projects of 6 GW each in the state’s Bikaner complex.
