The Andhra Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission (APERC) has set the benchmark tariff for wind power in Andhra Pradesh at Rs.4.35 (~$0.067)/kWh with accelerated depreciation and ₹4.76 (~$0.073)/kWh without accelerated depreciation.

The benchmark tariff for the bidders claiming accelerated depreciation has increased by Rs.0.10 (~$0.001)/kWh compared to the previous fiscal. In financial year 2016-17, the APERC had set the benchmark tariff for wind power in the state at ₹4.25 (~$0.065)/KWh with accelerated depreciation and ₹4.84 (~$0.074)/kWh without accelerated depreciation.

The new benchmark tariff will be applicable to all new wind power projects entering into power purchase agreements with distribution companies in Andhra Pradesh on or after April 1, 2017, stated an APERC release. The tariff will be applicable up to March 31, 2018.

According to the New and Renewable Energy Development Corporation of Andhra Pradesh (NREDCAP), the state has installed 2,143 MW of wind power as of February 28, 2017.
