Transmission and distribution company Adani Energy Solutions has won a power transmission project from PFC Consulting to supply 3 GW of renewable energy to produce green hydrogen and green ammonia in Mundra, Gujarat.
This project involves upgrading the Navinal (Mundra) electrical substation by adding two large 765/400kV transformers. A 75 km long 765 kV double-circuit line will also be constructed to connect this substation to the Bhuj substation.
The project is expected to cost ~₹28 billion (~$325.31 million) and be commissioned in 36 months.
It will also include the addition of 150 ckm of transmission lines and 3,000 MVA of transformation capacity to Adani Energy’s overall transmission infrastructure, growing them to 25,928 ckm and 87,186 MVA, respectively.
The tender was floated in October 2024. The other bidders included Power Grid Corporation of India and Sterlite Grid 32.
Recently, PFC Consulting invited bids to augment the evacuation capacity of renewable energy by 4.5 GW and construct line bays at the Mandsaur substation in Madhya Pradesh. The project involves creating a new 400 kV and 765 kV bus section-II through sectionalizer arrangement and a new 220 kV bus section-3 with sectionalizer arrangement at the Mandsaur pooling substation.
In January this year, Adani Energy Solutions won REC Power Development and Consultancy’s ₹250 billion (~$2.89 billion) Bhadla-Fatehpur high voltage direct current transmission project to evacuate 6 GW of renewable energy. This project is part of a larger program to evacuate an additional 20 GW of renewable power from the renewable energy zones in Rajasthan under Phase III Part I.
Last November, Power Finance Corporation transferred its special purpose vehicle Pune-III Transmission to Adani Energy Solutions, which emerged as the successful bidder for the evacuation of 7 GW of power from the potential renewable energy zone in Khavda, Gujarat, under Phase IV, Part D. The transaction was executed for a consideration of ₹187.8 million (~$2.2 million).
