ACME Solar Holdings, SAEL Industries, Essar Renewables, Onward Solar Power, and NTPC Renewable Energy (NTPC REL) were declared winners in SJVN’s auction to set up 1.2 GW interstate transmission system (ISTS)-connected solar power projects anywhere in India.
ACME, SAEL, and Essar were awarded 300 MW each, and Onward 100 MW at a tariff of ₹2.52 (~$0.0300)/kWh.
NTPC REL won 200 MW out of the quoted capacity of 400 MW at a tariff of ₹2.53 (~$0.0301)/kWh under the bucket-filling method.
The tender was floated in May this year.
The minimum project capacity that a bidder could offer was 50 MW and the maximum was 600 MW. Bidders could offer projects at multiple locations, given each project has a minimum capacity of 50 MW.
The tender specified that the modules used in the project must be listed in the latest Approved List of Models and Manufacturers issued by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy.
In July, SJVN invited bids to select developers to set up 1,200 MW of ISTS-connected wind-solar hybrid power projects in India.
In March, SJVN invited bids to select renewable energy developers to supply 600 MW firm and dispatchable power from ISTS-connected renewable energy projects with energy storage systems.
The Renewable Energy Implementing Agencies designated by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, including SJVN, issued 35.51 GW of project tenders until December 2023, against the 50 GW target for the financial year 2023-24.
According to Mercom’s India Solar Tender Tracker, SJVN accounted for ~13% of the total capacity tendered during the period.
