The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has floated a tender for facility management and comprehensive maintenance of a 1.5 MW grid-connected rooftop solar power project at the Integrated Cargo Complex, Chennai airport, for two years.

The last date for submitting bids is June 24, 2024. Bids will open the next day.

In 2021, AAI invited bids for facility management and comprehensive operation and maintenance of the rooftop solar project at the Chennai airport for three years until July 31, 2024.

The project’s estimated cost is ₹12.9 million (~$155,960).

Bidders have to pay a tender processing fee of ₹1180 (~$14.15) and an earnest money deposit of ₹259,953 (~$3,119).

The scope of work includes labor, materials, tools, plants, equipment, and transport required for the complete execution and completion of the contract.

This will include wastage on materials, carriage and cartage, return of empties, hoisting, setting, fitting, and fixing in position of the equipment.

Bidders must have completed or substantially completed three works, each valued at ₹2.54 million (~$30,551), or two works, each valued at ₹3.18 million (~$38,190), or one work valued at ₹5.09 million (~$61,104) in a single contract of a similar nature, specifically “operation and maintenance of grid-tied solar photovoltaic power project,” in the last seven years.

Bidders should have an average financial turnover of ₹1.9 million (~$22,913) for works executed during the last three years and a minimum net worth of ₹954,846 (~$11,456).

AAI floated a tender for the annual operation and maintenance of a 1.2 MW ground-mounted solar power project for 24 months at the Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport in Varanasi.

In March last year, the Ministry of Civil Aviation advised the authorities in the states to ensure that carbon emission reduction measures are incorporated into the design and standards for greenfield airport development proposals, detailed project reports, and airport master plans before submitting them to the nodal ministry.
