50 MW Solar Project Tendered for Salem Steel Plant in Tamil Nadu

NTPC-SAIL Power Company Limited (NSPCL), a joint venture between the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) and Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), has tendered a 50 MW solar PV project at SAIL’s Salem Steel Plant, in Tamil Nadu. The bid submission deadline for the project is August 10, 2017.
NSPCL intends to set up the 50 MW project in two splits (20 MW & 30 MW). This project will be implemented in a single engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) package under domestic competitive bidding using non-DCR (open category) manufactured PV modules and cells. Moreover, this EPC package will be awarded to a single bidder in a single block of 50 MW with suitable award criteria notified separately in the bidding document.
The scope of work for the project includes design, engineering, manufacturing, supply, packaging and forwarding, transportation, unloading storage, installation, testing and commissioning of the project based on open category PV modules and cells. In addition, the bidder will provide comprehensive operation & maintenance (O&M) of the project and transmission systems for a period five years from the date of successful completion of the trial run.
Mercom India has recently reported that, the NSPCL tendered a 20 MW solar project at the Durgapur Steel Plant, in West Bengal.
