<p>Here are some noteworthy cleantech announcements of the day from around the world:</p>
<p><strong>Solar </strong><strong>module manufacturer </strong><a href="https://www.vikramsolar.com/homesolutions/?utm_source=google_search&amp;utm_medium=cpc&amp;utm_campaign=VikramsolarHV_Res&amp;gclid=CjwKCAjw-e2EBhAhEiwAJI5jgymaU10v6It1-IBkZxH0tW8a4lv__HbuDyJLpNeytWb6uglu60LSCxoCY-YQAvD_BwE" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>Vikram Solar</strong></a><strong> has completed an 85 MW solar project for NTPC at Bilhaur, Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh.</strong> The expected energy yield of this project<strong> is </strong>200 MU. <strong>Combining the latest project with Vikram Solar’s </strong>recently commissioned 140 MW project for NTPC at the same location, the 225 MW capacity project becomes the largest solar project at a single location in the state of Uttar Pradesh. The project is expected to reduce 4.57 tons of CO<sub>2</sub> and can power 88,905 houses per year.</p>
<p><strong>Canadian energy company Suncor Energy has </strong><a href="https://www.suncor.com/en-ca/newsroom/news-releases/2226977" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>partnered</strong></a><strong> with logistics and energy holding company ATCO on a clean hydrogen project with global scale-up potential.</strong> The project is expected to produce more than 300,000 tonnes per year of clean hydrogen using advanced technology to capture more than 90% of the emissions generated in the hydrogen production process. Once realized, the project would reduce CO₂ emissions in Alberta by more than 2 million tonnes per year, equivalent to taking 450,000 cars per year off the road.</p>
<p><strong>The European Commission has </strong><a href="https://ec.europa.eu/commission/presscorner/detail/en/ip_21_2242" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>approved</strong></a><strong> a €400 million (~$480.12 million) Danish aid to support electricity production from renewable sources.</strong> Part of the European Union state aid rules, the financial assistance will contribute to substantial reductions in greenhouse emissions, supporting the objectives of the Green Deal. Denmark aims to support energy generation from onshore and offshore wind turbines, wave power projects, hydroelectric projects, and solar technology with a scheme designed to guarantee stable prices to electricity producers. The aid will be awarded through a competitive tendering procedure organized between 2021 and 2024, while the sum could be paid out for a maximum of 20 years after the renewable electricity is connected to the grid.</p>
<p><strong>Potomac Edison, a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp, has</strong><strong> received </strong><a href="https://www.firstenergycorp.com/newsroom/news_articles/potomac-edison-receives-approval-for-two-battery-energy-storage-.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>approval</strong></a><strong> from the Maryland Public Service Commission for two battery energy storage projects in Allegany and Frederick counties.</strong> The latter will be paired with a new electric vehicle fast-charging station. The two projects will allow Potomac to evaluate the potential benefits of energy storage for their residential customers and learn more about the interaction between energy storage systems and electric vehicle charging stations. The measure will help the firm stay informed about future grid development efforts.</p>
<p><strong>Energy company Siemens Energy has </strong><a href="https://press.siemens-energy.com/global/en/pressrelease/siemens-energy-collaborates-servicenow-enable-precision-defense-against-cyber-threats" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>collaborated</strong></a><strong> with ServiceNow to enable fortification against cyber threats targeting the energy industry.</strong> Siemens Energy’s monitoring and detection industrial security platform and ServiceNow’s cross-enterprise digital workflows aim to help energy companies mitigate cyberattacks at machine speed. The unified software solution creates a detection engine and workflows that streamline operations for cybersecurity analysts to monitor anomalous or malicious behavior in security operations centers and energy plant operators to act on credible threat intelligence at machine speed.</p>
