<p>The Energy Efficiency Services Limited (<a href="https://www.eeslindia.org/content/raj/eesl/en/home.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">EESL</a>) has issued amendments to the tender <a href="https://mercomindia.com/eesl-set-to-procure-1000-electric-cars/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">floated</a> earlier for 1,000 air-conditioned four-wheeler electric sedan cars with a driving range of 180 km on a pan India basis. EESL is a joint venture of the public-sector units of the Ministry of Power and the Government of India.</p>
<p>After the modification, EESL has now invited bids for the procurement of 750 air-conditioned four-wheeler electric sedan cars. The last date for the submission of bids is March 12, 2020.</p>
<p>The scope of work includes designing, manufacturing, supplying, and maintenance of the cars at the required locations in the country.</p>
<p>To take part in the tender, the bidder should be a car manufacturer, and in case of a consortium, one of the members should be designated as the lead member with the authority to bind the consortium. All the members of the consortium should be car manufacturers and should meet the technical criteria requirements.</p>
<p>In terms of financial criteria, the average annual turnover of the bidder should be ₹300 million (~$4.07 million) in the last three financial years. The net worth of the bidder in the last financial year should not be less than 100% of the paid-up capital. The profitability of the bidder in at least two of the last three years should be positive.</p>
<p>As per the technical criteria, the bidder should have experience in the business of manufacturing, sale, and service of internal combustion engine cars for the last three years or one-year experience in the manufacturing, sale, and service of electric cars.</p>
<p>Recently, EESL<a href="https://mercomindia.com/eesl-installs-one-million-smart-meters-india/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"> announced</a> that it had successfully installed one million smart meters across India under the Smart Meter National Program. The company aims to deploy 250 million smart meters across the country over the next few years.</p>
<p>Earlier, EESL had <a href="https://mercomindia.com/eesl-joins-hands-sdmc-install-ev-charging-stations/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">signed</a> a Memorandum of Understanding with the South Delhi Municipal Corporation to establish the infrastructure for electric vehicles in the SDMC area for a period of 10 years. According to the terms outlined in the MoU, the two entities will work in tandem to fast-track the adoption of e-mobility by installing 75 electric vehicle charging stations in the SDMC area.</p>
