<p>There is a lot of uncertainty around the implications of the Coronavirus pandemic on the Indian solar industry with new announcements and orders coming out every day. The outlook is hazy at best.</p>
<p>Mercom India is soon going to be holding a webinar on April 17, 2020, at 11 am Indian Standard Time (IST). The topic of discussion is <strong>‘India Solar Market Update: Key Trends.’</strong> The speakers are Raj Prabhu, CEO of <a href="https://mercomcapital.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Mercom Capital Group</a>, and Priya Sanjay, managing director of Mercom Communications India.</p>
<p>The guest speakers for the webinar will be Anand Kumar, Secretary of Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) and Jatindra Nath Swain, Chairman &amp; Managing Director at Solar Energy Corporation of India Ltd. (SECI).</p>
<p>According to Mercom India Research, the Indian solar market added <a href="https://mercomindia.com/india-solar-installations-2019-declined/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">~7.3 GW</a> of solar capacity in the calendar year (CY) 2019, compared to 8.3 GW in 2018, a 12% decline YoY.</p>
<p>The panelists will talk about the <a href="https://mercomindia.com/mercom-coronavirus-live-updates-clean-energy-india/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak</a> and its grave impact on the global solar industry, supply chain, project development, and related topics.</p>
<p>The speakers will also shed some light on the current challenges experienced by the Indian solar industry as cash flow crunch, unhealthy DISCOM finances, working capital requirement, and supply chain disruptions.</p>
<p>Importantly, the panel is expected to shed some light on the outlook for the Indian solar sector in 2020 amid the Coronavirus pandemic.</p>
<p>Mercom had forecasted India to install 8.6 GW of solar in 2020 before the outbreak of COVID-19. The market has changed significantly around the world over the past 60 days. While some regions like China are recovering, others such as the U.S., Europe, and India are under various phases of the shutdown to prevent the pandemic from spreading.</p>
