<p>The National Institute of Wind Energy (<a href="https://niwe.res.in/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">NIWE</a>) has invited bids from engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contractors for a 1 MW (AC) monocrystalline solar power project at <a href="https://mkuniversity.ac.in/new/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Madurai Kamraj University</a> in Tamil Nadu.</p>
<p>The contract will also include five years of comprehensive maintenance, warranty, and insurance. The scope of work will also include a power evacuation system to the nearest available substation of the Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation (TANGEDCO). The EPC contractors will also be responsible for laying the underground and overhead cables and merger of three existing high-tension feeder service connections into a single high-tension service connection.</p>
<p>Previously, Mercom <a href="https://mercomindia.com/schools-colleges-going-solar/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">reported</a> how solar – not black coal – is beginning to power classrooms, dormitories, and canteens of multitudes of educational institutions across the country.</p>
<p>The last date for the submission of bids for the tender is June 29, 2020, and the pre-bid meeting will take place on June 10, 2020. Interested bidders will have to submit an amount of ₹1.3 million (~$17,283) as the earnest money deposit (EMD).</p>
<p>To take part in the bidding process, the bidder should be a registered Indian EPC firm with five years of experience in design, engineering, supply, erection, testing, and commissioning of solar power projects. The bidder should also have prior experience in operation and maintenance (O&amp;M) of ground-mounted grid-connected projects in the country.</p>
<p>The bidder should have successfully installed grid-connected solar power projects aggregating at least 20 MW (AC) during the last five years. The bidder should have successfully installed and commissioned at least one single solar project of at least 1 MW (AC) capacity in the last year. The bidder should also have executed O&amp;M activities for a grid-connected solar power project of 1 MW (AC) capacity in the last year.</p>
<p>Regarding the financial eligibility criteria, the minimum average annual turnover of the bidder in the last three financial years should be ₹15 million (~$199,427).</p>
<p>Recently, the Roads and Bridges Development Corporation of Kerala (<a href="http://www.rbdck.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">RBDCK</a>) <a href="https://mercomindia.com/tender-735-kw-solar-project-cochin-university/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">floated</a> a tender for setting up a 735 kW DC grid-connected solar system at the Cochin University of Science and Technology in Cochin, Kerala. The scope of work included the design, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of the solar system at the institute’s premises along with five years of comprehensive maintenance.</p>
<p>Earlier, the Indira Gandhi National Open University (<a href="http://www.ignou.ac.in/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">IGNOU</a>) <a href="https://mercomindia.com/indira-gandhi-national-open-university-delhi-campus-solar/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">signed</a> a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with HMF Solar Power Limited for the installation of a 500 kW grid-connected rooftop solar power project at its campus in Delhi. The project will be developed under the RESCO model, and the power generated from the project at the campus will be supplied at the cost of ₹3.13 (~$0.043)/kWh for 25 years.</p>
<p>Previously, it was reported that Visvesvaraya Technological University (<a href="https://vtu.ac.in/en/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">VTU</a>), a university located in Karnataka, had <a href="https://mercomindia.com/visvesvaraya-technological-university-rooftop-solar-tender/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">issued</a> a tender to set up 360 kW of rooftop solar photovoltaic (PV) energy installation at the university campus in Belagavi.</p>
