					</table><p>Here are some noteworthy cleantech announcements of the day from around the world:</p>
<p><a href="https://konkanrailway.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>Konkan Railway Corporation</strong></a><strong> invited bids for the supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of a ground-mounted, grid-connected, 5 MW solar power project.</strong> The project would supply solar energy to the transmission system at 25 kV, single phase, 50 Hz, and the required protection system for 25 years at Murdeshwar of Konkan Railway in Karnataka. The last date to submit the bids is September 22, 2022. Bidders must submit an earnest money deposit of ₹1.48 million (~$18,540). The tariff for the tender has been fixed at ₹3.10 (~$0.039)/kWh for 25 years.</p>
<p><strong>NTPC </strong><a href="https://www.bseindia.com/xml-data/corpfiling/AttachLive/53c37f39-90a6-4519-b5c1-9931591d230b.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>announced</strong></a><strong> the commissioning of the first part capacity of 10 MW out of the 20 MW Gandhar solar photovoltaic (PV) project at Gandhar, Gujarat.</strong> With this, the standalone installed and commercial capacity of NTPC will stand at 55.10 GW, while the group installed and commercial capacity of NTPC stands at 69.46 GW.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.nhdcindia.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>NHDC</strong></a><strong>, a joint venture of NHPC and the Madhya Pradesh government, awarded the engineering, procurement, and construction contract to develop an 88 MW floating solar power plant </strong>at Omkareshwar Reservoir to <a href="https://www.tatapowersolar.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Tata Power Solar Systems</a>. The plant will be developed in the solar park developed by Rewa Ultra Mega Solar (RUMSL). The project is to be completed in 13 months. NHDC <a href="https://mercomindia.com/nhdc-epc-tender-88-mw-floating-solar-madhya-pradesh/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">issued</a> the tender for this project in June this year. Recently, NHDC was one of the winners in RUMSL’s <a href="https://mercomindia.com/amp-energy-sjvn-and-nhdc-rumsls-floating-solar-auction/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">auction</a> for the 600 MW floating solar park at the Omkareshwar reservoir. NHDC won 100 MW at ₹3.22 (~$0.040)/kWh.</p>
<p><strong>Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL), a joint venture under the Ministry of Power, </strong><a href="https://eeslindia.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/EESL-signs-agreements-with-Bihar-utilities-to-install-smart-prepaid-meters-in-the-state-converted.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>signed</strong></a><strong> agreements with South Bihar Power Distribution Company and North Bihar Power Distribution Company </strong>to install 2.34 million smart prepaid meters in Bihar under its Smart Meter National Program. This is the first time that smart prepaid meters are being installed at this scale. The smart prepaid meters are expected to optimize the DISCOM operational performance by increasing the billing and collection efficiency, reducing the operation and maintenance cost, enhancing the quality of service, and providing the consumers with demand-side management options.</p>
<p><strong>NHPC, during its 46th Annual General Meeting, </strong><a href="https://pib.gov.in/PressReleasePage.aspx?PRID=1854653" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>announced</strong></a><strong> that it had signed a letter of intent to develop 10 GW Renewable Energy Parks/Projects in Rajasthan </strong>with Rajasthan Renewable Energy Corporation and Rajasthan Urja Vikas Nigam. NHPC also bagged a 1 GW solar project with a Viability Gap Funding (VGF) of ₹4.49 million (~$56,250)/MW under the Central Public Sector Undertaking program, Phase-II, Tranche-III in the e-reverse auction conducted by Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency.</p>
<p><strong>Gensol Engineering </strong><a href="https://www.bseindia.com/xml-data/corpfiling/AttachLive/bfa07a62-f447-4db7-bc50-fa82728c662e.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>announced</strong></a><strong> that it bagged purchase orders to develop solar power projects aggregating to a capacity of around 58.8 MW and a total cost of ₹1.53 billion (~$19.17 million).</strong> The orders were from the states of Jammu and Kashmir, Gujarat, Punjab, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, and Telangana. Out of the seven deals closed by Gensol, five are based on the full turnkey EPC model, while two are a balance of system projects. Four projects are to be erected over land, and the other three would be on the rooftops of client factories.</p>

Daily News Wrap-Up: Konkan Railway Issues Tender for 5 MW Solar Project

<p>The Ministry of Railways (<a href="https://indianrailways.gov.in/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">MoR</a>) has issued two tenders inviting bids to set up a 1,160 kW grid-connected solar project for Konkan Railways and rooftop solar installations on seven railway stations in the Bangalore Division of South Western Railway.</p>
<p><strong>Konkan Railway Tender</strong></p>
<p>The scope of work for the Konkan Railway tender includes supply, installation, testing, commissioning of an on-grid solar power plant of roughly 1,160 kWp capacity. The project will generate and supply solar energy to railway installations through public-private partnership (PPP) on a design, build, finance, operate, and transfer (DBFOT) basis for 25 years.</p>
<p>The solar project will power office buildings, railway stations, and other establishments on the Konkan Railway route in Maharashtra, Goa, and Karnataka. The project must be completed within 300 months from the date of issue of the letter of award (LoA).</p>
<p>The last date to submit bids is November 8, 2021.</p>
<p><strong>Bangalore Division of South Western Railway</strong></p>
<p>The Bangalore Division of South Western Railway has invited bids to install rooftop solar projects in the range of 10 kW and 17 kW on railway stations.</p>
<p>The last date to submit bids is November 2, 2021. The project must be completed within four months from the date of issuing the LoA.</p>
<p>The bidder must have received contractual payments to the tune of at least 150% of the advertised value of the tender in the last three financial years (FYs) and the current FY up to the date of opening of tender.</p>
<p>The bidder must have completed any of the following during the last seven years:</p>
<ul>
<li>Three similar works each costing not less than the amount equal to 30% of the advertised value of the tender</li>
<li>Or two similar works, each costing not less than the amount equal to 40% of the advertised value of the tender</li>
<li>Or one similar work, each costing not less than the amount equal to 60% of the advertised value of the tender.</li>
</ul>
<p>Similar works include supplying, installing, testing, and commissioning a solar power generating system of at least 5kW capacity.</p>
<p>According to a recent report published by <a href="https://climatetrends.in/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Climate Trends </a>and <a href="https://www.ridingsunbeams.org/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Riding Sunbeams, </a>one in four trains of the <a href="https://indianrailways.gov.in/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Indian Railways</a> could be <a href="https://mercomindia.com/solar-energy-could-power-trains/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">powered</a> by solar power.</p>
<p>Meanwhile, the Railway Energy Management Company Limited (<a href="https://www.remcltd.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">REMCL</a>), a joint venture of the Indian Railways and <a href="https://rites.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">RITES Limited</a>, <a href="https://mercomindia.com/railways-tender-consultants-solar/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">issued</a> a notice inviting tender to enroll agencies or consultants to set up solar projects. These consultants will conduct surveys, prepare feasibility and detailed project reports for solar photovoltaic projects in various Indian states.</p>
