<p>Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd. (<a href="https://www.tatapowerrenewables.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">TPREL</a>), a <a href="https://www.tatapower.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Tata Power</a> subsidiary, has commissioned a 50 MW Domestic Content Requirement (DCR) category solar project at <a href="https://mercomindia.com/pavagada-solar-park-projects/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Pavagada Solar Park</a> in Karnataka, which covers an area of 253 acres. The project was won in the year 2016 under the Phase-II (Batch II) of the National Solar Mission.</p>
<p>TPREL has entered a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement with National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) at a tariff of ₹4.84/kWh.</p>
<p>According to Mercom’s <a href="https://mercomindia.com/product/india-solar-project-tracker/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><em>India Solar Project Tracker</em></a>, the commissioning of this 50 MW project increases TPREL’s installed solar capacity to 1,222 MW, and its solar project pipeline now stands at 123 MW.</p>
<p>With this, the TPREL has also managed to commission the entire 150 MW that it was developing at Pavagada Solar Park.</p>
<p>Rahul Shah, the chief executive officer of TPREL, said, &#8220;The commissioning of the 50 MW solar project in Karnataka fortifies our position of being the largest renewable energy company in the country with a strong presence in solar power generation. We prefer development opportunities in solar parks as land and evacuation are provided, and we can focus on the project. We are extremely proud of this development and we continue to seek potential areas across India and in select international markets through organic and inorganic opportunities.&#8221;</p>
<p>Mercom had <a href="https://mercomindia.com/tprel-solar-project-pavagada-solar-park/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">previously reported</a> that the TPREL commissioned a 100 MW grid-connected solar project at the Pavagada Solar Park in Karnataka. The project had been developed in two 50 MW blocks and covers a 533-acre area.</p>
