<p>With cutting-edge innovations driving the solar space, technologically advanced string inverters are fast gaining popularity among solar developers.</p>
<p>Although inverters account for 5% of the total <a href="https://mercomindia.com/developers-prefer-string-inverters-mercom-webinar/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">project cost</a>, they become key contributors while factoring in project performance, stability, and the levelized cost of energy. So, quality and technology play a substantial role.</p>
<p>In the past two years, string inverters have been steadily catching up with the conventional central inverters, which have until now been the go-to solution for solar projects.</p>

<p>According to Mercom’s recently released report <a href="https://mercomindia.com/product/mercom-india-solar-market-leaderboard-2021-market-shares-profiles/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">India Solar Market Leaderboard 2021</a>, in the string inverter <a href="https://mercomindia.com/sungrow-huawei-and-sineng-top-inverter-suppliers/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">category</a>, Huawei, Sungrow, Growatt, Goodwe, and Solis were the top suppliers to India.</p>
<p>With rooftop solar also gaining momentum in the solar installation segment, developers and consumers are turning to string inverters for a variety of reasons.</p>
<p>Rooftop solar installations are cost-sensitive and demand the best technologies to ensure they produce the maximum output. Remote monitoring and in-built safety features are also integral for rooftop solar systems, especially during the pandemic.</p>
<p>The small and compact size of string inverters <a href="https://mercomindia.com/string-inverter-indian-solar-market/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">ensure</a> easy transport. In case of failure, replacing a string inverter is both easier and inexpensive. Since string inverters are connected to a series of solar modules and not the entire system, any failure or shading has a minimum effect on the performance of the entire system.</p>
