					</table><p>Bangladesh Power Development Board (<a href="https://www.bpdb.gov.bd/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">BPDB</a>) has floated three tenders for constructing 77.6 MW (DC) of grid-connected solar projects across the country on a turnkey basis.</p>
<p>The last date to submit the bids is April 2, 2023. Bids will be opened on the same day.</p>
<p><strong>Tender for 50 MW (DC) Solar Project</strong></p>
<p>The first tender is for constructing a 50 MW (DC) grid-connected solar power project at Rangunia in the Chattogram district of Bangladesh on a turnkey basis.</p>
<p>Bidders will have to submit an amount equivalent to $1 million as a bid security deposit in the form of a bank guarantee issued by a scheduled bank in Bangladesh.</p>
<p>Bidders should have at least three years of overall experience as a contractor, subcontractor, or management contractor.</p>
<p>The average annual turnover of bidders should be at least $50 million during the last five years (the best three of the previous five years would be considered).</p>
<p>The minimum liquid assets or working capital of bidders should be $10 million.</p>
<p><strong>Tender for 20 MW (DC) Solar Project</strong></p>
<p>Under the second tender, bids have been invited to construct a 20 MW (DC) solar power project at Barapukuria in the Dinajpur district of Bangladesh.</p>
<p>Bidders must submit $400,000 as a bid security deposit in the form of a bank guarantee issued by a scheduled bank in Bangladesh.</p>
<p>The technical criteria remain the same for this tender.</p>
<p>The minimum average annual turnover of the bidder should be at least $23 million in the last five years (the best three of the previous five years will be considered).</p>
<p>The minimum liquid assets or working capital of bidders should be $4 million.</p>
<p><strong>Tender for 7.6 MW (DC) Solar Project</strong></p>
<p>The third tender is for constructing a 7.6 MW (DC) solar power project at Kaptai in the Rangamati district.</p>
<p>Bidders must submit $150,000 as a bid security deposit as a bank guarantee issued by a scheduled bank in Bangladesh.</p>
<p>The bidders&#8217; required average annual turnover during the last five financial years should be at least $8 million (the best three of the last five years will be considered).</p>
<p>The minimum liquid assets or working capital of bidders should be $2 million.</p>
<p>For all three tenders, BPDB has stated that if the project is not completed within the stipulated time, the contractor will have to pay 0.1% of the contract value for each day of delay as liquidated damages, subject to a maximum of 10% of the total contract value.</p>
<p>The minimum stipulated life of the solar modules should be 25 years. Each solar module should be warranted by the manufacturer for output wattage, which should not be less than 90% at the end of ten years and 80% at the end of 25 years.</p>
<p>The modules should perform satisfactorily in relative humidity up to 100% with temperatures between -10 degrees Celsius and +85 degrees Celsius and should have the lowest temperature loss coefficient. The supporting structure should withstand winds up to 200 Km/hour on the panel&#8217;s surface.</p>
<p>In June last year, the Export-Import Bank of India (EXIM Bank) <a href="https://mercomindia.com/epc-tender-issued-for-solar-project-in-bangladesh/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">invited</a> bids from Indian engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contractors for a 100 MW solar project at Madarganj in the Jamalpur district of Bangladesh.</p>
<p>Earlier, the Bangladesh-China Renewable Energy Company had <a href="https://mercomindia.com/epc-tender-floated-solar-bangladesh/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">invited</a> bids for the EPC of a 60 MW solar project on a turnkey basis at Pabna, Bangladesh.</p>

Bangladesh Floats Tenders for 77.6 MW Solar Projects

<p>The Bangladesh Power Development Board (<a href="http://www.bpdb.gov.bd/bpdb/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">BPDB</a>) has tendered 200 MW of solar photovoltaic (PV) projects to be developed across select locations in the country.</p>
<p>The bid-submission deadline is August 28, 2018.</p>
<p>The capacity (200 MW) is divided into four packages of 50 MW each. Package I (50 MW) will be developed near Baraiyarhat 132/33 kV grid substation, package II (50 MW) will be developed near Chuadanga 132/33 kV grid substation, package III (50 MW) will be developed near Netrokona 132/33 kV grid substation, and package IV (50 MW) will be developed near Bhaluka 132/33 kV grid substation.</p>
<p>A single bidder can bid for all the four packages. The solar PV projects will be developed on build own operate (BOO) basis. The successful bidders will enter power purchase agreements (PPAs) with BPDB for a period of 20 years.</p>
<p>The BPDB has directed bidders to deposit a bid security amount of $250,000.</p>
<p><a href="https://mercomindia.com/power-purchase-agreement-200-mw-solar-project-signed-bangladesh/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Last year</a>, BPDB had entered a 20-year PPA with Teesta Solar Limited, a sister concern of <a href="http://www.beximco.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">BEXIMCO Group</a>, to procure 200 MW of solar electricity.</p>
<p>This 200 MW tender will further the case of renewables, especially solar in Bangladesh.</p>
<p>Bangladesh plans to add 2,500 MW of electricity generation capacity to the grid every year starting 2018. The Bangladesh government also plans to generate 10 percent of power from renewable sources by 2021.</p>
<p>As a step forward in the same direction, the Asian Development Bank (<a href="https://adb.org/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">ADB</a>) <a href="https://mercomindia.com/adb-assistance-bangladesh-off-grid-solar/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">announced</a> that it will give $20 million loan to Bangladesh under its Power System Efficiency Improvement Project for the furtherance of off-grid solar solutions in the country.</p>
<p><a href="https://mercomindia.com/world-bank-loan-bangladesh-renewables/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Moreover</a>, World Bank also recently approved $55 million in financing to expand the use of renewable energy in rural areas of Bangladesh that grid electricity cannot easily reach. The funds will be used to finance the Second Rural Electrification and Renewable Energy Development (<a href="http://projects.worldbank.org/P131263/rural-electrification-renewable-energy-development-ii-rered-ii-project?lang=en" target="_blank" rel="noopener">RERED II</a>) Project.</p>

Bangladesh Issues Tender for 200 MW of Solar Projects

<p>Bangladesh’s North-West Power Generation Company Limited has tendered a 7.6 MW grid‑connected solar photo voltaic (PV) project to be developed in Soydabad, near the capital city of Dhaka. The bid submission deadline is January 11, 2018.</p>
<p>The project completion time-frame is one year from the date the letter of award is issued.</p>
<p>This a global engineering, construction, and procurement tender and the project will be developed on a turnkey basis. The scope of work includes engineering, design, manufacturing, procuring, inspection, supply, installation, erection, testing, and commissioning of the grid-connected solar project.</p>
<p>Of late, Bangladesh is increasing its efforts to procure solar to meet its domestic energy demands. The Bangladesh Power Development Board <a href="https://mercomindia.com/power-purchase-agreement-200-mw-solar-project-signed-bangladesh/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">recently</a> signed a 20-year contract with privately owned Teesta Solar Limited, a sister concern of BEXIMCO Group, to procure 200 MW of solar electricity.</p>

7.6 MW Grid-Connected Solar PV Project Tendered in Bangladesh

<p>A Power purchase agreement (PPA) to procure power generated from a 200 MW grid-connected solar project has been signed in Bangladesh. This is the first mega-solar project for which a PPA has been signed in the country.</p>
<p>As part of the government&#8217;s move to increase the share of renewable energy in the country, the Bangladesh Power Development Board (<a href="http://www.bpdb.gov.bd/bpdb/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">BPDB</a>) signed a 20-year contract with privately owned Teesta Solar Limited, a sister concern of <a href="http://www.beximco.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">BEXIMCO Group</a>, to procure 200 MW of solar electricity, according to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS).</p>
<p>According to the contract, Teesta Solar Limited would construct the 200-MW Sundarganj Solar Power Project at Latshal, Sundorgonj in Gaibandha within 18 months. The company would also supply electricity to the national grid at a rate of $0.15 kWh for 20 years under the &#8216;no electricity no payment method.’</p>
<p>BPDB secretary, Mina Masud Uzzaman, and Managing Director of Teesta Solar Limited, M Rafiqul Islam, signed the power purchase agreement, while Sheikh Faezul Amin, joint secretary of the power division and M Ashraf Hossain, company secretary of Power Grid Company of Bangladesh (PGCB) signed the Implementation Agreement on behalf of their respective sides.</p>
<p>&#8220;Currently, the world is moving for clean energy, so we have to follow,” said State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Bangladesh, Nasrul Hamid. The United Kingdom and Sweden along with some other countries have already transformed their motor vehicles into electric charge vehicles instead of oil dependency. The government has fixed the goal of providing electricity to all by 2021 at a reasonable and affordable price, added Hamid.</p>
<p>According to sources, BEXIMCO Power and Xinjiang Sunoasis will bear the costs for purchase/lease of the land, and construction of a sub-station and transmission lines to evacuate power from the solar project.</p>
<p>Currently, Bangladesh’s generation capacity stands at 15,821 MW. The country plans to add 2,500 MW of electricity generation capacity to the grid every year starting 2018. The Bangladesh government plans to generate 10 percent of power from renewable sources by 2021 especially solar.</p>
