<p>Bosnia’s autonomous Serb Republic has launched a tender for the construction of a 65 MW solar power project in southeastern Bosnia, the country’s largest so far, according to Reuters.</p>
<p>The bid-submission deadline is July 27, 2018. The expected project cost is 150 million Bosnian marka ($89.4 million).</p>
<p>The project will cover an area of 80 hectares. Construction of substations, power units, access roads, the installation of solar panels, inverters and transformers, laying of transmission lines, installation of safety and security systems will come under the scope of work of the project developer.</p>
<p>The solar power project will be located near the town of Ljubinje and is expected to produce 104 GWh of electricity per year to be sold in the open market.</p>
<p>The future operator will hold a 50-year concession to operate the project. Bosnia aims to generate 40 percent of its energy from renewable sources by 2020 versus 34 percent currently as part of its plans to join the European Union.</p>
