<p><strong>Daqo New Energy Corporation, a photovoltaic-grade polysilicon manufacturer, </strong><a href="https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/daqo-new-energys-subsidiaries-announce-two-high-purity-polysilicon-supply-agreements-with-longi-and-another-solar-manufacturing-company-in-china-301690114.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>announced</strong></a><strong> that its subsidiaries had signed two long-term polysilicon supply agreements with LONGi </strong>and another solar manufacturing company in China. Under the supply agreement with LONGi, Daqo New Energy&#8217;s subsidiary Inner Mongolia Daqo will provide LONGi with a total amount of 251,280 metric tons of mono-grade polysilicon from May 2023 to December 2027. Additionally, under the supply agreement with another solar manufacturing company, Xinjiang Daqo and Inner Mongolia Daqo will provide it with 27,600 metric tons of mono-grade polysilicon from January 2023 to December 2027.</p>
<p><strong>Airbus </strong><a href="https://www.airbus.com/en/newsroom/press-releases/2022-11-airbus-reveals-hydrogen-powered-zero-emission-engine" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>announced</strong></a><strong> it was developing a hydrogen-powered fuel cell engine, which will be ground and flight-tested onboard its ZEROe demonstrator aircraft by 2025. </strong>The propulsion system is considered one of the solutions to equip its zero-emission aircraft that will become operational by 2035. The A380 MSN1 flight test aircraft for new hydrogen technologies is currently being modified to carry liquid hydrogen tanks and their associated distribution systems.</p>
<p><strong>U.S.-based home improvement retail corporation Home Depot </strong><a href="https://corporate.homedepot.com/news/sustainability/100-megawatts-solar-energy" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>announced</strong></a><strong> the purchase of 100 MW of solar energy from the National Grid Renewables’ solar and storage project called Noble in Denton County, Texas.</strong> The purchase of solar power would help Home Depot to meet 8% of its total electricity usage. The solar farm is National Grid Renewables&#8217; largest solar energy project and its first utility-scale energy storage project. The company has pledged to produce or procure 100% renewable electricity equivalent to the electricity needs for all Home Depot facilities by 2030. Noble is a 275 MW solar and 125 MWh energy storage project located in the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT). Home Depot currently purchases solar power from a 75 MW facility and is under contract for another 50 MW of solar capacity. The company also purchases energy from a 50 MW wind facility.</p>
<p><strong>TotalEnergies is <a href="https://totalenergies.com/media/news/press-releases/kazakhstan-totalenergies-implements-its-energy-transition-strategy" target="_blank" rel="noopener">implementing</a> its energy transition strategy in Kazakhstan by selling a part of its oil portfolio and signing agreements to develop wind and battery storage projects. </strong>The company signed a deal to sell its affiliate Total E&amp;P Dunga to the Kazakh company Oriental Sunrise Corporation for $330 million. Total E&amp;P Dunga holds a 60% operating interest in Kazakhstan&#8217;s onshore Dunga oil field, representing a net production of approximately 7,400 barrels of oil equivalent per day in 2022. The company’s renewable energy arm, Total Eren, signed an agreement with Samruk-Kazyna and KazMunayGas to develop the Mirny project, the largest wind energy project ever initiated in Kazakhstan. The 200 wind turbines, totaling 1GW of installed capacity, will be combined with a 600 MWh battery storage system. The project will supply more than 1 million people in Kazakhstan with low-carbon electricity.</p>
<p><strong>GALILEO, the pan-European renewable energy platform, has </strong><a href="https://www.mozaik-energies.fr/news/partenariat-entre-moza%C3%AFk-energies-et-galileo" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>become</strong></a><strong> a 20% owner in MOZAÏK Energies, a France-based renewable energy company.</strong> The partnership provides for developing a portfolio of projects common to both companies and deploying several financial mechanisms to support the growth of MOZAÏK Energies over the long term. The two partners have joined hands to promote the diversification of the electricity mix, support the country&#8217;s energy independence strategy and reduce the cost of electricity for consumers. MOZAÏK Energies and GALILEO aim to develop, build and operate a portfolio of ground-based solar power plants nationwide, particularly in the northern half of France.</p>
<p><strong>Solar module manufacturer <a href="https://goldisolar.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Goldi Solar</a> announced the launch of the Mono PERC range of domestic content requirement (DCR) modules under the HELOC Pro series.</strong> The modules would be available in monofacial and bifacial variants with a power output ranging from 520W-550 W. HELOC Pro DCR range modules are known to be equipped with the new circuit design with multi-busbar technology, reducing the current losses. The company claimed the modules have an advanced glass and cell surface textured design, ensuring excellent performance in low-light environments and reducing hotspot losses.</p>

<p><strong>Param Renewable Energy was declared the winner in </strong><a href="https://www.ntpc.co.in/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>NTPC</strong></a><strong>’s auction for comprehensive operation and maintenance (O&amp;M) of its 50 MW NTPC Rajgarh solar project in Madhya Pradesh for three years.</strong> The company emerged as the lowest bidder) by quoting a price of ₹99 million (~$1.25 million). Other bidders were Jakson Ventures, Vatsa Electric, and Kunamneni Technologies. The tender was <a href="https://mercomindia.com/ntpc-om-50-mw-solar-madhya-pradesh/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">floated</a> in May this year.</p>
<p><strong>Cleantech Solar </strong><a href="https://mercomindia.com/ntpc-om-50-mw-solar-madhya-pradesh/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>announced</strong></a><strong> the commissioning of two solar power projects with capacities of 8.5 MW and 5.3 MW at its solar parks in Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu, respectively, for UNO MINDA Group.</strong> The power from these solar projects will be procured on a captive basis. The long-term solar partnership between Cleantech Solar and UNO MINDA is expected to generate approximately 495 GWh of clean energy during the lifetime of the projects, which amounts to a reduction of over 450 kilotons of CO2 emissions. The fully operational solar PV systems have been built by Cleantech Solar and will be operated and maintained by Cleantech Solar throughout the agreement term.</p>
<p><strong>The Union Cabinet </strong><a href="https://mercomindia.com/ntpc-om-50-mw-solar-madhya-pradesh/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>approved</strong></a><strong> the strategic partnership agreement signed between the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) and the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA)</strong> <a href="https://mercomindia.com/ntpc-om-50-mw-solar-madhya-pradesh/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">signed</a> in January this year. The agreement aims to drive ambition, leadership, and knowledge on green energy transitions based on renewable energy in India. The agreement includes cooperation in facilitating knowledge sharing from India on scaling-up renewable energy and clean energy technologies; supporting India’s long-term energy planning; collaborating to strengthen the innovation climate in India; moving towards cost-effective decarbonization through catalyzing the development and deployment of green hydrogen.</p>
<p><strong>Voltalia, a renewable energy developer, </strong><a href="https://mercomindia.com/ntpc-om-50-mw-solar-madhya-pradesh/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>announced</strong></a><strong> the development of a new photovoltaic cluster Arinos, with a potential capacity of more than 1.5 GW in Minas Gerais, Brazil.</strong> Voltalia has already signed partnerships, notably with CTG Brasil. Following approvals, these partners will purchase a significant portion of the solar sites in the Arinos cluster once the development phase of each site is completed and thus shortly before construction begins. The development of large project clusters allows the pooling of infrastructure, connection networks, and maintenance.</p>
<p><strong>CS Energy, Castillo Engineering, and Amp Energy </strong><a href="https://mercomindia.com/ntpc-om-50-mw-solar-madhya-pradesh/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>announced</strong></a><strong> that they have partnered to deliver a portfolio of 25.4 MW of community solar projects in upstate New York.</strong> All five projects ranging from 3.9 MW to 6.2 MW, will utilize bifacial modules mounted on fixed-tilt racking and are part of the local utility’s community solar program. Four projects are under construction, with the fifth project expected to commence this month. All five projects are expected to achieve commercial operation by Q4 2022.</p>
<p><strong>Airbus </strong><a href="https://mercomindia.com/ntpc-om-50-mw-solar-madhya-pradesh/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>signed</strong></a><strong> a memorandum of understanding with Linde, a Germany-based chemicals company, to work on developing hydrogen infrastructure at airports worldwide.</strong>  The agreement follows a cooperation agreement signed in Singapore in February. It covers collaboration on global supply chains for hydrogen, from production to airport storage, including the integration of refueling into normal ground handling operations. Both companies will define and launch pilot projects at several airports from early 2023. In addition, Airbus and Linde will analyze the potential of Power-to-Liquid fuels &#8211; a type of Sustainable Aviation Fuel made from the synthetically produced liquid hydrocarbon through the conversion of renewable electricity.</p>

Daily News Wrap-Up: Param Renewable Wins NTPC’s O&M Tender for a 50 MW Solar Project

<p>Here are some noteworthy cleantech announcements of the day from around the world:</p>
<p><strong>Reliance Industries </strong><a href="https://www.ril.com/DownloadFiles/CorporateAnnouncements/Regulation30disclosureRNEL06052022.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>announced</strong></a><strong> the amalgamation of its wholly-owned subsidiary Reliance New Energy Limited (RNEL), into the company.</strong> The company&#8217;s board of directors approved the merger. RNEL was incorporated to undertake new and renewable energy initiatives. The company has decided that Reliance Industries will undertake these initiatives. The equity shares of RNEL are not listed on stock exchanges.No consideration is being paid either in cash or by the issue of shares, and there would be no change in the company&#8217;s shareholding pattern.</p>
<p><strong>The Power Finance Corporation (</strong><a href="https://www.pfcindia.com/Home" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>PFC</strong></a><strong>) announced the incorporation of three special purpose vehicles (SPVs) for the development of independent transmission projects, </strong>which will be formed under its wholly-owned subsidiary PFC Consulting. The three SPVs are – Khandukhal Rampura Transmission – for the creation of 400 kV Khandukhal, Srinagar to Rampura, Kashipur DC line; Fatehgarh III Transmission – for the development of a transmission system for evacuation of power from the renewable energy zone in Rajasthan (20 GW) under Phase III- Part A3; and Bhadla III Transmission – for the development of transmission system for the evacuation of power from the renewable energy zone Rajasthan (20 GW) under Phase III, Part B1.</p>
<p><strong>Airbus </strong><a href="https://www.airbus.com/en/newsroom/press-releases/2022-05-airbus-increases-its-uk-innovation-footprint-to-develop-new" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>announced</strong></a><strong> the launch of a Zero Emission Development Centre (ZEDC) to develop a cost-competitive cryogenic fuel system required for the successful entry-into-service of Airbus&#8217; ZEROe passenger aircraft by 2035. </strong>The ZEDC will benefit from the recent commitment by the UK Government to guarantee £685 million (~$859.24 million) of funding to the Aerospace Technology Institute (ATI) over the next three years to support the development of zero-carbon and ultra-low-emission aircraft technologies. Technology development at the new UK ZEDC, based in Filton, Bristol, has already started and is expected to cover the full product capabilities from components up to the whole system and cryogenic testing. All Airbus ZEDCs are expected to be fully operational and ready for ground testing, with the first fully functional cryogenic hydrogen tank in 2023 and flight testing starting in 2026.</p>
<p><strong>Hero Electric </strong><a href="https://heroelectric.in/hero-electric-signs-ev-financing-pact-with-cholamandalam/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>entered</strong></a><strong> into a partnership with Cholamandalam Investment and Finance Company, the financial services arm of Murugappa Group, to offer easy and smart financing for electric two-wheelers</strong>. The collaboration aims to make Hero Electric scooters more affordable for discerning and price-conscious buyers with attractive financing solutions. This partnership is expected to enable Hero Electric to cater to newer markets with Cholamandalam&#8217;s widespread presence across the country.</p>
<p><a href="https://greenzoenergy.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener"><strong>Greenzo Energy</strong></a><strong>, a Delhi-based renewable energy developer, announced an investment of ₹3-4 billion (~$38.68 &#8211; $51.57 million) to set up a 250 MW electrolyzer factory by 2025. </strong>The company aims to ensure the availability of end-to-end solutions within the country and cut down dependence on imports of electrolyzers to produce green hydrogen. The company also announced an investment of over ₹70 million (~$902,541) for the 250 MW PEM technology production of the green hydrogen electrolyzer in 2022-23.</p>

Daily News Wrap-Up: Reliance Merges its Renewable Energy Arm Into the Company

<p><a href="https://www.airbus.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Airbus</a>, a Netherland-based multinational aerospace company, has announced its plans to develop the world’s first zero-emission commercial aircraft by 2035.</p>
<p>According to its statement, the company is currently working on three concept designs for hydrogen-powered aircraft equipped with zero-emission technology, which can reduce aircraft’s emissions by up to 50%.</p>
<p>“As recently as five years ago, hydrogen propulsion was not even on our radar as a viable emission-reduction technology pathway, but convincing data from other transport industries quickly changed all that. Today, we are excited by the incredible potential hydrogen offers aviation in terms of disruptive emission reduction,” Glenn Llewellyn, Vice President of Airbus, Zero-Emission Aircraft.</p>
<p>The company has plans to launch several hydrogen demonstrator programs to test hydrogen fuel cells and hydrogen combustion technology in the upcoming months. It is expected to launch the ZEROe aircraft program by 2025, while a full-scale aircraft prototype is anticipated to come up by the late 2020s.</p>
<p>Airbus said that its three zero-emission hydrogen hybrid concept aircraft are equipped with modified-gas turbine engines and hydrogen fuel cells. Hydrogen fuel cells are utilized to generate electric power that supports the modified-gas turbine engines to burn liquid hydrogen fuel to power the aircraft.</p>
<p>The company stated that each concept aircraft has different methods to integrate liquid hydrogen storage and distribution system according to its designs. The Turbofan concept aircraft is equipped with two hybrid hydrogen turbofan engines that provide thrust, while liquid hydrogen storage and a distribution system are located behind the rear pressure bulkhead.</p>
<p>The Turboprop concept aircraft is equipped with two hybrid hydrogen turboprop engines to drive six-bladed propellers which provide thrust to aircraft. While the Blended-Wing Body concept aircraft has two hybrid hydrogen engines like the other two aircraft, its wide interior offers several options for liquid hydrogen storage and distribution system.</p>
<p>In India, on its 70<sup>th</sup> Republic Day celebrations last year, the Indian Air Force <a href="https://mercomindia.com/republic-day-indian-air-force-aircraft-biofuel/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">led the way</a> towards a greener future by utilizing biofuel for its aircraft during the fly-past ceremony.</p>
